Scarlett Undercover - Jennifer Latham

Hi everyone! I thought that I would do a blog post for today because I will be pretty busy tomorrow. However, the book, Scarlett Undercover by Jennifer Latham has been finished and well I have no positive yet no negative things to say about the novel.

Published Date: May 19, 2015
Genre: Sci-Fi/Fantasy

Synopsis: Meet Scarlett, a smart, sarcastic, kick-butt, Muslim American heroine, ready to take on crime in her hometown of Las Almas. When a new case finds the private eye caught up in a centuries-old battle of evil genies and ancient curses, Scarlett discovers that her own family secrets may have more to do with the situation than she thinks -- and that cracking the case could lead to solving her father's murder.

Jennifer Latham delivers a compelling story and a character to remember in this one-of-a-kind debut novel.

It was definitely an interesting book, not only because it gave me insight on certain religions but it made me smile and bored at the same time. I'm not going to say that this was an easy book to read because it took me several tries and days to get into the book. However, I loved the witty Scarlett.

I would rate this book a solid 3 stars out of 5 but I wish it could have been better or more engaging.

The book that I am currently reading is In a World Just Right - Jen Brooks. So far, it is fantastic and I hope to have a review by Friday the 3rd.
Published Date: April 28, 2015
Genre: Sci-Fi/Fantasy

Synopsis: Imagination takes on new meaning for a uniquely talented teen in this debut novel that is a breathtaking blend of contemporary, fantasy, and romance.

Sometimes Jonathan Aubrey wishes he could just disappear. And as luck—or fate—would have it, he can. Ever since coming out of a coma as a kid, he has been able to create alternate worlds. Worlds where he is a superhero, or a ladies’ man, or simply a better version of himself. That’s the world he’s been escaping to most since sophomore year, a world where he has everything he doesn’t have in real life: friends, a place of honor on the track team, passing grades, and most importantly, Kylie Simms as his girlfriend.

But when Jonathan confuses his worlds senior year and tries to kiss the real Kylie Simms, everything unravels. The real Kylie actually notices Jonathan … and begins obsessing over him. The fantasy version of Kylie struggles to love Jonathan as she was created to do, and the consequences are disastrous. As his worlds collide, Jonathan must confront the truth of his power and figure out where he actually belongs—before he loses both Kylies forever.

I also hope to start reading Neighbors with Benefits - Marissa Clarke (RELEASE DATE TODAY) & Dream of You - Jennifer L. Armentrout. Both are considerably New Adult/Fiction.

Published Date: June 30, 2015
Synopsis: Love thy sexy jerk of a neighbor…

CEO Michael Anderson might be something of a “control freak.” Still, he’s not quite sure why his therapist thinks dogsitting will fix anything—especially since he and the canine share a kind of mutual loathing. And to make matters worse, a house sitter moves in next door disrupting his peace—and his dates—with the worst possible music at the worst possible time... every time.

Free-spirited artist Mia Argaropolis has settled into the perfect gig—housesitting in NYC’s Upper West Side while working as an art therapist. Too bad she’s stuck living next door to a bossy control freak with a penchant for calling building security when she blasts music to drown out the noises coming through his bedroom wall.

Post-apocalyptic dinner rolls that nearly take her kitchen with them, a douchebag ex, and a Shih Tzu with the personality of Godzilla attack Mia in one day, and her unlikely neighbor comes to the rescue. Like it was her fault. And now, somehow, they find themselves engaged? Both agree, this neighborly feud just got taken to a whole new level.

Happy Release Date!

TED 2 (Movie Review)

Sorry that I have been neglecting you guys. It is summer and fortunately, most of my family was born in these three months.

I wanted to give you the review of Scarlett Undercover - Jennifer Latham however, the book is very dreary and I am having a hard time coming through for you guys. However, I did watch TED 2 in theaters on opening night and may I say that the humor is very crude and if you do not like that kind of humor with sexual innuendos and lots & lots of cursing, this is not the movie for you.

Synopsis: Newlywed couple Ted and Tami-Lynn want to have a baby, but in order to qualify to be a parent, Ted will have to prove he's a person in a court of law.

I did not have the chance to see TED itself in theaters but I hear that it was hilarious and who does not like a funny movie. Well some people but that is another topic for another day.

I think that one does not have to watch TED in order to watch TED 2 because I caught on very quickly.

My thoughts on the beginning of the movie was that the beginning was just a filler to make the movie longer. I would like for the movie theaters and its tickets, the price needs to go down. I am frustrated with all theaters trying to renovate because they want to 'keep' up with the generations.

My rating on this movie itself would be a solid 3.7 stars out of 5 but with the theaters and pricing, thumbs down, negative stars, sucky love seats, it ultimately comes out to be a 2.5 stars out of 5.

Morgan Freeman and his narration voice along with his acting really tied the movie together. His ending quote really tugged at my heart...

"What makes a person? What qualities make something a property?"

Red Queen - Victoria Aveyard (Red Queen #1)

This book is just amazing. There are no words to explain it. The last time that I was able to read a book so fast was Jennifer L. Armentrout's or Suzanne Collins books. Any of her books made me flip through the pages like crazy.

Victoria Aveyard is the debut author of 2015 and she has done a fantastic job with her first published book and congratulations is in order.

Red Queen is an amazing book although the similarities are uncanny in some of the books that I have already read such as the Selection series.

Some of the similarities include:

Caste systems
Selection of the bride for the prince
Strong female character that is in love with childhood best friend who falls in love with the prince

Those are some of the simple ones and from the reviews that I have read, there are a lot more similarities with Red Dawn, which I slightly understand because even in the book, it includes some of  Red Dawn.

However, even with the uncanny similarities, I still read on and loved it.

Published Date: February 10, 2015
Genre: Sci-Fi/Fantasy
Synopsis: The poverty stricken Reds are commoners, living under the rule of the Silvers, elite warriors with god-like powers.

To Mare Barrow, a 17-year-old Red girl from The Stilts, it looks like nothing will ever change.

Mare finds herself working in the Silver Palace, at the centre of
those she hates the most. She quickly discovers that, despite her red blood, she possesses a deadly power of her own. One that threatens to destroy Silver control.

But power is a dangerous game. And in this world divided by blood, who will win?

One of my absolute favorite quotes from the book is,

"Anyone can betray anyone..."

I rate this book a solid 4.7 stars out of 5. Only a .3 knock off for the similarities. Do read this book!

Thanks for reading awesome book nerds.

Dangerous Deception - Kami Garcia & Margaret Stohl (Dangerous Creatures #2)

Published Date: May 19, 2015
Genre: Sci-Fi/Fantasy
Synopsis:

From the world of Beautiful Creatures--a dangerous new tale of love and magic continues in the sequel to Dangerous Creatures.

Love is ten kinds a crazy, right?
Let me put it to you this way: If you can get away, run. Don't walk.
Because once you're exposed, you'll never get a Siren outta your head.

Some loves are cursed. Others are...dangerous. Especially the love between wannabe rocker and quarter Incubus, Wesley "Link" Lincoln, and Dark Caster, Siren, and bonafide bad girl, Ridley Duchannes.

But now Ridley is missing, and Link was with her-right up until she vanished. Determined to find her, Link reunites with his New York bandmates and the mysterious Lennox Gates, who wants Rid for himself. Together they travel to the deep south, find the crossroads where blues guitarist Robert Johnson made his deal with the devil, discover a menagerie of Casters locked in cages, and uncover an evil in New Orleans that threatens to destroy them all.

This time, love might not be enough.

"There are three types of girls in the world. Good girls, bad girls, and Ridley Duchannes. Ridley is in a category all on her own."

Dangerous Deception had me on my toes throughout the time I have read it. Trust me, I had it with me while I was waiting in my car, reading in bed, even dog-sitting. I absolutely loved this book and I really do believe that anyone who is interested in fanatical creatures, this book is for you. It is not the typical vampire/werewolf novel like Twilight but it definite has its cheesy moments.

Throughout the book, I was washed over with emotions from happiness to sadness to anger. Why? You'll just have to read the book series in order to figure it out. Without knowing that Dangerous Creatures was a spin-off from Beautiful Creatures, I was kind of thrown into the characters and the plot line. Although, I cannot commit to saying that you need to read Beautiful Creatures before Dangerous Creatures but it would be a good way to brush up on the characters which is what I will be doing as I finish up the City of Bones series, Red Queen, and Scarlett Undercover.
Published Date: March 27, 2007
Genre: Sci-Fi/Fantasy
Published Date: February 10, 2015
Genre: Young Adult/Fantasy
Published Date: May 19, 2015
Genre: Contemporary/Young Adult/ Mystery

I rate this book a solid 4.5 stars out of 5. Do read this by checking it out at your local library or just buying it. Do keep in mind that not only Red Queen is an option for a movie deal and the title for the second book has been released: Glass Sword.

Thanks for reading awesome book nerds.

Jurassic World (Movie Review)

Chris Pratt is just gorgeous and pretty badass especially when it comes to dinosaurs. Click on his name and watch a prank video from SA Wardega who also were in the makings of the Spider-Dog. So watch as they prank Pratt.

Even if he was supposed to be a minor character in the movie, he definitely was why most girls and some guys came to see the movie.

That's not why I went though. I grew up with the Jurassic Park movies and this was just an awesome part to it.

Jurassic World was a solid movie with a slightly boring beginning but it did tie everything together in a way.

My favorite part to the ending was the fight and of course the happy-ending romance. Who doesn't love a happy ending romance?

"So what should we do now?"
"Stick together... You know... For survival."
Without giving out any spoilers other than that line, I would rate this movie a solid 4.7 stars out of 5. It is only a .3 deduction because of the long introduction but props for making me laugh even during the most serious parts.

Watch this movie and it will be the best $10.00 that you have ever spent. You will not need to watch the previous Jurassic Park movies but it would be good to do so that way you have some sort of knowledge on what is going on with the movie.
In Theatres: June 12, 2015
Genre: Action/Thriller
I also hope to be reviewing Dangerous Deception by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl in the next few days as well as Red Queen by Victoria  Aveyard.

Thanks for reading awesome nerds. Keep on doing that.

Specials - Scott Westerfeld

Published Date: June 20, 2008
Genre: Sci-Fi/Fantasy
Synopsis:
"Special Circumstances": The words have sent chills down Tally's spine since her days as a repellent, rebellious ugly. Back then Specials were a sinister rumor -- frighteningly beautiful, dangerously strong, breathtakingly fast. Ordinary pretties might live their whole lives without meeting a Special. But Tally's never been ordinary.

And now, in the third book in the series, Tally's been turned into a Special: a superamped fighting machine, engineered to keep the uglies down and the pretties stupid.

The strength, the speed, and the clarity and focus of her thinking feel better than anything Tally can remember. Most of the time. One tiny corner of her heart still remembers something more.

Still, it's easy to tune that out -- until Tally's offered a chance to stamp out the rebels of the New Smoke permanently. It all comes down to one last choice: listen to that tiny, faint heartbeat, or carry out the mission she's programmed to complete. Either way, Tally's world will never be the same.

One of the all time best-selling series that I have read.

Scott Westerfeld knows how to capture his reader's eyes. From Uglies all the way to Specials [so far], Tally Youngblood has captured the hearts of those she has met. Even from being a Pretty to becoming a Special, she has enraptured those she comes upon with her bubbly and iciness.

Do I recommend reading this book? Absolutely because you will fall in love with the series and not be able to stop reading them.

I rate this book a solid 4.5 out of 5 stars because I do not believe everyone will love this book series because not a lot of people like fiction and fantasy. But I love, loved, loved, this book.

Next books to be read are Dangerous Deception (Dangerous Creatures #2) by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl and Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard.

Release Date - Scorched - Jennifer L. Armentrout

Happy Release Date everyone! Today, or I should say yesterday, exactly at 10:38pm, I received notification that Scorched by Jennifer L. Armentrout was released.

Even the cover is amazing and so far, the story as well. This book tells the story of Andrea and Tanner's on and off love story with a little twist to the story.
Published Date: June 16, 2015
Genre: Romance, Tragedy, Fantasy

I will update this post as soon as I finish this book by the end of the day and hopefully encourage you guys to purchase this book.

There also has been an update on the e-book purchase, mainly on the Nook, that the file uploaded is the wrong file and contains author notes on it. Email scorchedebook@gmail.com regarding it!

Here is what they have posted:

Update:

SPOILER ALERT!

I just finished the book and wow... That is all that I can say about it. This book definitely hit somewhere close to home for me personally because it dealt with depression and anxiety with a whole lot of drinking. Andrea and Tanner have an epic love story that is well developed throughout the book because every person has that one person in their life that they wish that they worked up the courage to talked to but never did... On top of that, there are plenty of people that battle depression, anxiety, and alcoholism, and sometimes we just don't even know it because as explained in the book, the happiest people are often the ones most struggling.

One of the strongest quotes through the book was, "Make yourself proud." Especially something that I can now tell myself when I am having a hard day or if I know someone else that is.

Something that I would also like to point out is that even the smallest and kindest gesture can make someone's day.

I rate this book a 5 out of 5 stars and highly recommend this to those that love New Adult and Young Adult books that deal with some of the worst tragedies that some people do actually face. I absolutely fell in love with this book because not only do the characters have a realistic romance blooming but it shows the readers how serious these problems can be.

Andrea and Tanner are one of my favorite couple, mainly because Andrea has some lady balls that I would like to grow as well while Tanner is just hot and funny so onto the book boyfriends list he goes.

Thanks for reading awesome book nerds.

Dangerous Creatures - Kami Garcia & Margaret Stohl (Dangerous Creatures #1)

Hi everyone! I'm back from my camping trip and I come bearing a review and a potential reviews.

Dangerous Creatures, a beautifully written book that shares two perspectives between two people: Ridley Duchannes and Wesley (Linc) Lincoln. I just want to start this review off with how true their relationship is because it shows how parents, mainly the mother usually doesn't think any girl is good enough for their only son and it shows throughout the story. Wesley is swoon-worthy but Ridley can treat him a little on the bad side.
Published Date: May 20, 2014
Spin-off from Beautiful Creatures (book series and movie)
Genre: Fantasy/Sci-Fi
Synopsis: A new series returns to the world of Beautiful Creatures. Some loves are cursed...others are dangerous.

Ridley Duchannes will be the first to tell you that she's a bad girl. She's Dark. She's a Siren. You can never trust her, or even yourself when she's around. Lucky for her, Wesley "Link" Lincoln can never seem to remember that; quarter Incubus or not, his heart is Mortal when it comes to Ridley. When Link heads to New York City to start a music career, Ridley goes along for the ride-and she has her own reasons. As if leaving small-town Gatlin for the big city, trying to form a band, and surviving life with a partially reformed Siren isn't hard enough already, Link soon learns he has a price on his head that no Caster or Mortal can ever pay.

Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl, the #1 New York Times bestselling coauthors of Beautiful Creatures, are back and casting another magical spell. Their signature mixture of mystery, suspense, and romance, along with a dash of fun and danger, will pull fans in and leave them begging for more.

Even if Wesley was turned into a quarter Incubus and it comes with all of the negative side-effects including not having to eat, not being able to sleep, however when it comes to his on and off girlfriend, Ridley, he is completely vulnerable and Mortal.

But later on within a novel, a surprise and heartbreaking moment comes into play. Wanna guess it? I would rate this book a 4.3 out of 5 stars. Read this book and you will not regret it. The potential reviews coming up will be Specials - Scott Westerfeld and Dangerous Deception by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl.

Armentrout that if you pre-order Scorched, the second novel to Frigid, click on this: Spencer Hill, in order to receive your swag pack from them. All you will need is your name, address, and proof of purchasing.

Scorched by Jennifer L. Armentrout is being released this Tuesday, -insert fangirl screaming- and because this author is awesome, she is having a giveaway on her own blog. Just click her name above to go to her link and go to BLOG.
Release Date: June 16, 2015
Synopsis:
Sometimes life leaves a mark…

Most days, Andrea doesn’t know whether she wants to kiss Tanner or punch him in the gut. He is seriously hot, with legit bedroom eyes and that firefighter body of his, but he’s a major player, and they can’t get along for more than a handful of minutes. Until now.

Tanner knows he and Andrea have had an epic love/hate relationship for as long as he can remember, but he wants more love than hate from her. He wants her. Now. Tomorrow. But the more he gets to know her, the more it becomes obvious that Andrea has a problem. She’s teetering on the edge and every time he tries to catch her, she slips through his fingers.

Andrea’s life is spiraling out of control, and it doesn’t matter that Tanner wants to save her, because when everything falls apart and she’s speeding toward rock bottom, only she can save herself.

Sometimes life makes you work for that happily ever after…

I am just excited to read this book because Armentrout is just as excited and also says that it is something that hits very close to home for herself.

Thanks readers!

Cover Reveal - The Power (Titan #2) - Jennifer L. Armentrout

Kind of late with the whole cover reveal thing, oops, but Drew Leighty (model) makes one hell of a Seth from the Covenant series. Every time that I read the book, I immediately imagine him doing those things. But here is the cover and I am completely entranced by the eyes even if they are fake.

SETH. IS. BACK. And he is as sexy and entrancing and funny just as ever.
Publishing Date: February 23, 2016
Rather far away for my taste but the first novel was great and I absolutely fell in love with the author once I read her Covenant series. In those series alone, you will meet Seth, the Apollyon, but you don't have to read the Covenant series before this because Jennifer L. Armentrout does a fantastic job at creating books where you don't have to read the previous novel. Even so, I fell in love with both of series.

Synopsis:
The Fates are cackling their bony asses off...

It's been a year since Seth made the deal with the gods that pledged his life to them. And so far, the jobs they've given him have been violent and bloody--which is kind of all right with him. But now Apollo has something else in mind for Seth. He's got to play protector while keeping his hands and fingers off, and for someone who really has a problem with restraint, this new assignment might be the most challenging yet.

Josie has no idea what this crazy hot guy's deal might be, but it's a good bet that his arrival means the new life she started after leaving home is about to be thrown into an Olympian-sized blender turned up to puree. Either Josie is going insane or a nightmare straight out of ancient myth is gunning for her.

But it might be the unlikely attraction simmering between her and the golden-eyed, secret-keeping Seth that may prove to be the most dangerous thing of all.

Because history has once again been flipped to repeat.

Nowadays, I love New Adult romance novels especially from Jennifer L. Armentrout because she makes them steamy and sexy and there are lots of "aweeeee" moments throughout which brings me to say that in a later post, I am going to go off on how much I want book boyfriends rather than real ones. But that will either be tomorrow or now.

Updated: The Strange Maid - Tessa Gratton

So late post, understanding that but I am in the process of drowning in Netlifx: How I met Your Mother: Season 6, Episode 9 ; Reading Dangerous Dream and The Strange Maid.

I've been busy, running around from work to this, also working on a fan fiction myself.

I haven't finished my books just yet but they are so good so far and full of action and surprises.

I was putting off reading The Strange Maid because at first I didn't find it interesting but the same thing happened with Divergent but I got through it and liked it enough to finish. I am still unsure of The Strange Maid but then again I am only halfway through.

I just started Dangerous Dream but so far, it already has given me a surprise.

Synopsis for The Strange Maid:

Fans of Neil Gaiman, Holly Black, and Maggie Stiefvater will embrace the richly drawn, Norse-influenced alternate world of the United States of Asgard, where cell phones, rock bands, and evangelical preachers coexist with dragon slaying, rune casting, and sword training in schools. Where the president runs the country alongside a council of Valkyries, gods walk the red carpet with Hollywood starlets, and the U.S. military has a special battalion dedicated to eradicating Rocky Mountain trolls.

Signy Valborn was seven years old when she climbed the New World Tree and met Odin Alfather, who declared that if she could solve a single riddle, he would make her one of his Valkyrie. For ten years Signy has trained in the arts of war, politics, and leadership, never dreaming that a Greater Mountain Troll might hold the answer to the riddle, but that’s exactly what Ned the Spiritless promises her. A mysterious troll hunter who talks in riddles and ancient poetry, Ned is a hard man to trust. Unfortunately, Signy is running out of time. Accompanied by an outcast berserker named Soren Bearstar, she and Ned take off across the ice sheets of Canadia to hunt the mother of trolls and claim Signy’s destiny.

I cannot wait to update this and share my thoughts with you on The Strange Maid because all I can say is that it was a slow beginning at first and it made me cry and laugh and almost throw my book across the room. Signy is a strong Child Valkyrie and has a lot of standards to uphold with all of her older sisters. Her heart is in trouble within the grasp of men and Valtheow the Dark.

Why was she called that? Read the book and find out. I promise that you will not be disappointed. I rate this book a solid 4 out 5. Time to read the third book of the series, if I can find it anywhere.

You guys are awesome. Keep on reading.

Next book up is Dangerous Dream by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl.

XOXO fellow readers.

Mad Max - Fury Road (Movie Review)

Definitely one of my all time favorite movies just alone on the graphics.

Max, a communicator with the living and dead, or so he says. I can see more, PTSD from watching those you love die around you.

This movie had it's funny moments and cringe-worthy as well. The 5 wives were a nice touch because it just shows how deranged our society could possibly become.

You know, a question that always drove me insane was, I wonder if our future is going to be like:
a. The Hunger Games
b. Divergent
c. Maze Runner
d. Unwind
e. Mad Max

Share your thoughts with me!

I would recommend seeing this movie and maybe it is because I love action movies but I definitely fell in love with it. It had its share of sappy moments but not a lot which made it better. Also that guitarist, was probably one of my favorite character.

I heard little things about Norse mythology as well because they all want to awaited in Valhalla because they were all soldiers fighting for their God and if their lord looked at them straight in the  eyes, they were awaited.

Watch this movie!

XOXO readers!
