Je Suis à Toi - Pepper Winters (Monsters in the Dark #3.5)

je suis a toi live.jpg

“Life taught me an eternal love will demand the worst sacrifices. A transcendent love will split your soul, cleaving you into pieces. A love this strong doesn’t grant you sweetness—it grants you pain. And in that pain is the greatest pleasure of all.”

Q is Back in
Je Suis A Toi by Pepper Winters!

NOW LIVE!
je suis.jpg
Published Date: May 27, 2016
Genre: Erotic
Synopsis: Q made me the happiest esclave in the world. He gave me his heart, his empire, his ruthless unforgiving love. And life finally left us in peace.
A man like my maître has special needs though, growing stronger as our lives intertwine. The only way to survive his monster is to agree to all his desires.
Including his latest wish.
I’m his.
And I won’t refuse.

Review: I found this book incredibly erotic and amazing. This was the first time that I read Pepper Winters but I can guarantee that it won't be the last time. A novella that held the darkness of people's hearts and told the romantic nature of it all.

This encompassed my love for these dark tales and I can assure you that my reviews for the Monsters in the Dark series is definitely not over now that I finally got a taste of it. Without truly realizing it, this is the book that shows how messed up I am because I loved something that shouldn't be in my dictionary of affection. Q and Tessa are ready to thieve away your heart.

Will you accept the challenge of letting them? This is a 4.3 out of 5 stars.

Blog you later, awesome book nerds.

Excerpt
“Don’t struggle. You know I’ll keep you safe.” Q’s murmur danced down my back.
My panic receded as trust billowed fast and true.
Q was born into darkness, but he’d never baptized me in his blackest desires. And because of that, I could implicitly say he spoke the truth. No matter what he did to me, he would never truly harm me.
Q paused, his tattooed chest soaking. His feathered sparrows fluffing off droplets almost alive on his skin. “I told you once never to fall for me. That I didn’t want the curse of breaking your heart while I broke so many other pieces of you.” His hands landed on my breasts, cupping them reverently. “Yet you fought me, just like you said you would. You fell for me, just like you promised me you would. And now, you’re willing to give me what I need even after I tricked you and lied.”
I swayed as I fell even deeper for this complex husband of mine. Q was all my fantasies in one glorious lifetime. The fact he finally wanted to share me with his child spoke volumes about his capacity to love.
“I’m so glad you ignored me, esclave.” His fingertips branded my nipples with pain. “So fucking happy you married me.” Pushing me backward, he smiled harshly as my spine met the pool wall. His chest strained as he sucked in a heavy breath. “You’re so fucking beautiful.”
My heart hammered in my ears as he kissed me.
His tongue laced with mine, and I sank into the sweet embrace, knowing it would be the last I received tonight. The air crackled with an impending storm. Q’s control frayed every second, his eyes drenching in determination and the salacious need to hurt.
Breaking the kiss, he opened his hand, revealing the other item he’d retrieved.
A tiny pair of silver scissors.

Live By The Team - Cindy Skaggs (Team Fear #1)

Published Date: April 19, 2016
Genre: Romance
Synopsis: Military trained, medically enhanced, designed to kill.

They created a monster. Trained by the Army, enhanced by medical experimentation, and tested in war. What happens to the creature when the war ends and the man awakens?

SSgt. Ryder was born, bred, and enhanced as a warrior, but when he returns home to his new wife—exiled from the army along with the rest of his disgraced team—he faces mounting anger and paranoia. When a fellow soldier does the unthinkable, Ryder disappears to protect his wife, but his departure leaves a vacuum filled with danger. Can he save her or will he lose himself to the beast and destroy what matters most?

Abandoned most of her life, Lauren Ryder married thinking she had finally found stability, until her new husband disappeared. He returns altered and secretive. Can she forgive him for crushing her dreams of picket fences and happily ever after? Will she survive what he has become?

This book told an absolutely beautiful tale. I fell in love with the story. Maybe it is because I love military romances but this one took the medal for making me love this even more. Although, I didn't understand the full background of the story and it was written rather confusing on the different perspectives and point of views.

Live By The Team by Cindy Skaggs was an interesting take on the topic of PTSD and how it can really ruin some people. It told the story of being a team in and out of the field operations. You stand by your teammates regardless of how hard it is and how much it triggers.

I really don't know how I felt about the main girl Lauren and the plot line was rather repetitive throughout. So the book is a 3.2 out of 5 stars, sadly. Although I loved how the mixture of PTSD was played into the book, I felt that it was rather shortsighted of what actually happens. Of course, this book was more focused on romance than the action of it all.

ARC: Remembering Everly - J.L. Berg (Lost & Found #2)

Published Date: April 5, 2016
Genre: Romance
Synopsis: After two years in a coma, August Kinkaid has forgotten the darkness in his past. But his past hasn't forgotten him. His beautiful former fiancée, Everly, remembers every tumultuous moment of their stormy relationship. The sizzling passion. The web of lies. And the terrible secret Everly's been hiding since her last fateful night with August.

Now the truth is out and August remembers everything. As his long-buried memories come flooding back, he begins to understand why Everly would want to move on with her life. Why she would give her heart to another man. And why August should try to forget her once and for all.

But he can't give up on the only woman he's ever loved. Even if he has to reopen old wounds--and face the darkest demons of his past--August will do whatever it takes for a second chance with Everly. He let her slip away once. He's not about to spend the rest of his life remembering Everly when he could be holding her in his arms forever . . .

I have to be honest with this book... I didn't like it as much as the thrilling start of the series: Forgetting August. Though this book was still awesome, it could have been better... To me, the ending was rushed and the plot felt jumbled. Remembering Everly still takes away your heart on a romantic level but as revelations are revealed, your head will spin.

As aforementioned, the first book left you all with a cliff hanger and this book, didn't feel the much craved anticipation of the book. I figured that it would have been better but that is just me. For me, your heart should be with the one that it longs and it shows that in the book that Ev is not feeling the love anymore from Ryan. She wanted-- No, needed, August back. But he kept pushing her away at every turn. This book is a mere 3 out of 5 stars... It was meh, compared to Forgetting August

Was it for the best or the worst? Guess, you will have to find out in Remembering Everly.

ARC: Monday - E.L. Todd (Timeless #1)

Published Date: May 3, 2016
Genre: Romance
Synopsis: I don’t believe in destiny.
In fate.
Or in soul mates.
But I believe in Hawke.
My life has never been whole since my parents left forever. I have my brother, someone I can barely tolerate most of the time, and I have my best friend, Marie.
And I have myself.
But when Hawke walks into my life, there’s an immediate connection. Our eyes lock and an unspoken conversation is exchanged. For the first time in my life, I actually feel something.
But he doesn’t.
He keeps me at arm’s length and pretends there’s nothing between us when there clearly is. I’m not the kind of girl to wait around for any guy, so I don’t.
But that doesn’t mean he isn’t in the back of my mind.
Our paths cross again in a way neither one of us expect and it changes everything. Was it destiny that made it happen? Was it fate?
Or was it something else?

You know there's that moment when you meet someone's eyes and you kind of just melt into a little puddle right there. Then you act like a fool trying to get their attention? Yeah, me either. Kidding. I have done that it is one of those moments where I wish I could slam my face into my desk because it was so embarrassing.

Francesca is someone who is a heartbreaking person. She will drive you to tears because you just want to hold her. She had a hard life. But then again, so has Hawke. Through this book, your heart will break and end on this note. It isn't your typical HEA and you sure as well aren't going to get one. Unless it is continued in her next books.

I personally think that we should all riot against Todd for putting us through so much pain and make her write faster to bring the next book in the series. I am not big on HEAs but I am not on cliffhangers either. Hint, hint. So maybe it will come soon. With a rating of 4.4 out of 5 stars, blog you later, awesome book nerds.

Review: I loved this book. Words cannot be spoken as to how much I enjoyed reading this. In fact, it was one that I devoured within a day because I couldn't put it down.
June and Evan will make your heart pound and your insides warm with the romance. Though, the book felt rushed on my part. But only because I hadn't read Until November. Which was purchased after reading this novel.

If you like the Lolita type girls, June will be your next favorite MC heroine. She makes Evan feel safe. While her arms are his home, his are her castle. Their hearts soar together and their love is inevitable.

4 out of 5 stars reaches for this book. It's sexy, funny, and lovable. Are you ready to meet June and Evan?

Excerpt 1
Seeing Evan again is taking a toll on me, I can’t sleep and my mind is in a constant state of turmoil. I wake up in the middle of the night from dreams of us. The memories of him, of us are too much. Some memories have the ability to heal. The ability to light up the dark because the beauty of the memory is so bright you’re still able to bask in it.
But the memories of us are killing me slowly. They remind me that for one moment I had everything while reminding me it’s gone. It’s the realization that we’re done that’s killing me. The realization that I can see him but can’t touch him that he exist but he’s not mine is agonizing.

Excerpt 2

He’s beautiful his body is a work of art I want to touch him, I want to know what It feels like to have his bearded face against my delicate skin, I want to know if the rough edges I now see are smooth to the touch.
“June.” My name in his course tone gets my attention but when our eyes meet its not anger he’s looking at me with, its raw, powerful, hungry possessiveness.

ARC: This Old Heart of Mine - A.J. Compton

Published Date: May 24, 2016
Genre: Contemporary
Synopsis: Ava Malone knows all about being broken-hearted.

Born with a severe heart defect, she’s spent her whole life in and out of hospital desperately needing a transplant.

Just days from death, her weak prayers are finally answered, and she receives a new heart; one that not only saves her life, but changes it forever.

Now fit and healthy, Ava is able to do things she only dreamed of, like get a job and some independence, fall in love, and finally live life to the fullest.

But her journey of self-discovery takes her to places she never expected. Along the way, Ava doesn’t just find the woman she was always meant to be, but she also finds out more about the woman who no longer is. The one who gave her this new life because she lost hers.

Faced with a devastating dilemma, Ava must decide whether the heart that’s pumping inside her body now belongs to her, or is still beating for someone else.

This whole book was very healing to read. I got my dose of romance, heartbreak, and funny. From what I read from this book, I learned that I can cry from a few words exchanged regardless of how little I knew the characters. Ava Malone will make you fall in love with her because this book, especially near the end, shows that you do not need a man to be happy. You have to self-love before loving another.

Ava battles herself as she tries to live her second life. Use her second chance. Become one with her heart. But when she learns more than she bargained for, she is in a dilemma. Unable to find herself, she looks to find herself once again.

I absolutely loved this book because This Old Heart of Mine reminded me of Sharon M. Johnston's, Divided but it was without the science fiction of it all. Get ready to learn to love yourself and fall in love with the characters, plot, and story. 3.8 out of 5 stars for this book.

Add Ollie by Gina Whitney to your TBR here:

ollie.jpg

Blurb
Two men.
One woman.

During one of the darkest moments in Allison’s life, she met two men. She loved them both, but not equally. One made her feel alive when she was so close to feeling dead inside. The other made her feel safe, protecting her against the world.
One took her heart, and then vanished.
The other settled for her friendship, but never stopped loving her.

Two hearts.
One choice.

The rocker who became her rock.
Or the flame who's burned her more than once.
One she can’t live with.
The other she can't live without.

What do you do when the one who broke you is the only one who can fix you? And the one who has always been there, hiding in the shadows for his chance, is now taking center stage?
