Oblivion - Jennifer L. Armentrout (Lux #1.5)

Published Date: December 1, 2015
Genre: Young Adult
Synopsis: Experience the epic love story of OBSIDIAN as told by its hero, Daemon Black…

I knew the moment Katy Swartz moved in next door, there was going to be trouble. Lots of it.

And trouble’s the last thing I need, since I’m not exactly from around here. My people arrived on Earth from Lux, a planet thirteen billion light years away. Plus, if there’s one thing I know, it’s that humans can’t be trusted. We scare them. We can do things they only dream about, and honestly, we make them look weak as hell. ‘Cuz they are.

But Kat is getting to me in ways no one else has, and I can't stop myself from wanting her—or wanting to use my powers to protect her. She makes me weak, and I’m the strongest of our kind, tasked with protecting us all. So this one simple girl…she can mean the end for us. Because the Luxen have an even bigger enemy—the Arum, and I need to stay on my game.

Falling for Katy—a human—won't just place her in danger. It could get us all killed, and that’s one thing I’ll never let happen...

I was raving the hell out of this book and I got it in both paperback and e-book. Why you ask? The paperback only has one book out of three in Daemon's point of view and book nerds, I need my Daemon and for him to make some alien babies with because I mean, look at that face and those eyes are definitely something die for.

He is the alpha male around school. Every guy is either jealous of him or wants to be him. Every girl wants to be with him. That is, until he meets Kitten... I mean, Kat. She's feisty as hell and you'll understand why he calls her that nickname.

At the hands of Jennifer L. Amentrout and her impossible expectations that she sets for men is a bit harsh but I love the way my heart melts at the sounds of her words. Needless to say, I needed a lot of damn tissues for this book and to be honest, when Jennifer L. Armentrout told us that she was writing a book in Daemon's perspective, I dropped all things and got on the freaking internet.

Daemon tries to act like a macho man especially around Kat to scare her off. I love Kat because she can stand her ground and that is what pushed me to actually want to continue the stories. I hate stories with girls who cannot take care of themselves. Like are you kidding me? We are women. We aren't helpless. She also was the reason why I started a blog. I mean, you just kind of had to seeing how much fun Katy was having with it.

Here, I will insert a huge thank you to other bloggers and authors for giving me early copies of their books to read them. Of course, I get an influx of them right around finals week. DAMN YOU! I want to read and not study now!

Gosh. Well, rant over. As Daemon told his perspective, you kind of got over the fact that he was being a butthole to Katy from her perspective (the original Lux series) because he had valid reason to be that way. He didn't want to get close with a human. I mean, haven't you heard of human cooties? Duh. Well, I think that he was in all honesty, the sweetest freaking thing on the planet and you can't get over it.

By the second book (in e-book version only), you kind of get annoyed with Kat and Blake, Bart, Brock, whatever his name is. He's not important. All I can say about him is that he is so annoying. I mean, he was annoying Kat's perspective but now that I read Daemon's, I just want to strangle that kid.

By the third... I was in tears. I was so done with everything and I fell into a book hole. I just don't know where to go from here because I need more aliens in my life.

Sigh... Goodbye, my sweet Daemon. UGH! Pain to my heart! I rate this a 4.8 out of 5 stars because well Jennifer never disappoints me.

Anyways... Blog you later, awesome book nerds. See you next time.

At Any Turn - Brenna Aubrey (Gaming the System #2)

Published Date: April 30, 2014
Genre: Contemporary Romance/New Adult
Synopsis: So You Want to Be a Hero?

Millionaire CEO Adam Drake, overcame a tortured past to build his own gaming empire. He’s in complete control of his life. With his new found love for brilliant geek girl blogger, Mia Strong, the last piece of his life is in place. He's at the top of his game.

Your Princess Is in Another Castle.

Until suddenly, she withdraws from him, leaving him in the dark. Something tells him she needs help. But she's too stubborn or scared to ask for it, and the more he tries to take control, the further he pushes her away. He can’t solve this problem by writing a check or a few lines of code.

He’ll have to dig deep and put himself at risk…or risk losing her forever.

This New Adult contemporary romance is intended for readers over the age of 18 due to adult language, sexual content and adult situations.

At the beginning of this book, we pick up where the delicious Adam Drake and beautiful Mia Strong left off in At Any Price. He had picked up limited things and took off on an expedition where he is trying to find himself. At first, it was lighthearted and I love their love for each other.

But things hit the rocky path and well, you just kind of want to shake Adam to get his head out of his butthole and Mia out of hers. Both are stubborn. Both are strong-headed. Both like to keep their life private from each other. Which is a no good situation waiting to happen.

Needless to say, for this book, I need a lot of damn tissues near the end of this book because the truth serum kicks in for the both of them and they fight for each other but they have a weird way of showing it.

I also wanted to just insert here, a huge thank you to the Two Unruly Girls with a Romance Book Buzz  for giving me these books as gifts so that I could finish my series. I mean, I am obsessed with their love and for Adam will do about anything for Emilia because well, he loves her.

I wish I had a freaking guy like Adam Drake to take control for my life which is always feeling like it is spiraling out of control. His hugs would be my medicine too just as it is for Mia.

I rate this book a good 4.5 out of 5 stars because well Brenna Aubrey is just amazing and there is no stopping that. I am sad that the series is almost over but with this book in particular, you'll be in for a large plot twister that it will make your head feel like it is spinning out of control.

Blog you later, awesome book nerds. You guys are my favorites.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2 (Movie Review)

Released Date: November 16, 2015
Genre: Action
Synopsis:
Realizing the stakes are no longer just for survival, Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) teams up with her closest friends, including Peeta (Josh Hutcherson), Gale (Liam Hemsworth) and Finnick for the ultimate mission. Together, they leave District 13 to liberate the citizens of war-torn Panem andassassinate President Snow, who's obsessed with destroying Katniss. What lies ahead are mortal traps, dangerous enemies and moral choices that will ultimately determine the future of millions.
Holy... This movie was so good and in all honesty, I started reading the books over again because you know, I want to become a sentimental sob over everything that is going on. I think that this book is one of the only dystopian series that I tolerated and read within 3 days. Because in all seriousness, Jennifer Lawrence is just an amazing person and I want meet Josh Hutchinson because I kind of fell in love with his little half smile from the shy Peeta.

This is also the one books series turned into movies that made me well, not angry. Well some parts did but they weren't really relevant. It only slightly bugged me. All Katniss has known from the beginning was loss and despair. But she grew up stronger and independent regardless of what happened to her.

It's one of the moments where you are just like, yeah, I want to cry and you can't say another word about it because I have been strong for me, you, other damn people in this world. She may be strong but that's only to certain people. Others, like her little sister, Prim, she is the sweetest older sister. Quite possibly like another mother to her because they both lost their father at a young age, putting their mother in a bad state of mind. But that jumpstarted them to becoming more mature.

I personally love Katniss as a character. She fights for what she believes in and she's not afraid to ever show that things are actually worth fighting for still. She is the fire in people's hearts and she starts to light in other people. Spreading the strength.

Well, in little words to none. I rate this movie a solid 4 out of 5 stars. People who haven't read the books won't understand why they portrayed the things they did in the movie and it makes them confused. Needless to say, I loved the books and the movies. It is quite sad to see this series come to an end.

Blog you later, awesome nerds and give these series another round of applause. I am not done with these series yet because I am going to read the books again and review them just for you. Same goes for the movies.

Krampus (Movie Review)

Damn, I feel like I haven't written a movie review in a really long time. Well here it is tonight in the spirits of Christmas.

Have you heard of the story Krampus? When the Christmas Spirit is lost, he doesn't allow St. Nick to come to gift the good kids. No... He never gives but he takes.
Release Date: December 4, 2015
Genre: Thriller/Comedy
Synopsis:
While the holiday season represents the most magical time of year, ancient European folklore warns of Krampus, a horned beast who punishes naughty children at Christmastime. When dysfunctional family squabbling causes young Max (Emjay Anthony) to lose his festive spirit, it unleashes the wrath of the fearsome demon. As Krampus lays siege to the Engel home, mom (Toni Collette), pop (Adam Scott), sister (Stefania LaVie Owen) and brother must band together to save one another from a monstrous fate.
Okay, so I put comedy because not only was I stressed about some factors, there were some parts that had you going WTF every other moment because I mean there were gremlins running around, there were these cute little gingerbread cookies, the idealogical American family stomping through their siblings home, etc.

I laughed so many times that I pretty sure that I am either sleep deprived and just really loving this movie. I mean, I cringed at some parts because those little helpers of Krampus were creepy as hell. I mean come on, a satanic ritual with these freaks wearing some sort of a pitchfork symbol on their heads? Like what?

Krampus, himself, was scary as hell. His bland eyes. His disgustingly long tongue. Let's be honest, I freaked out in the movie theatre when we ran into the jack in the box and some freak of a doll-bat hybrid.

Anyways, I jumped. I laughed. I enjoyed.

This movie was a good 2.8 stars out of 5, not necessarily meaning it was horrible but I wouldn't want it again with those little gremlin freaks running around there and getting in your face. You feel?

Oh and there's this fantastic looking horror movie coming out called The Forest. Based on a true story because it derives from Japan and if you type in Suicide Forest into Google, you're bound to find the story.

Anyways, blog you later, awesome nerds!

Promotion: Wildest Dreams - RC Boldt (Teach Me #1)

Wildest Dream (Book 1 in the Teach Me series) by RC Boldt

Publication Date: December 8, 2015
Genre: Romance

Blurb

The Teach Me series starts off with the story of Raine and Mac, the most unlikely of best friends…
Taken from his parents and bounced from one foster home to the next, former Navy SEAL turned math teacher, Callum "Mac" Mackenzie had a rough childhood. The only time he's let himself get attached to anyone has been with his military "brothers". He's convinced he doesn't know how to love and certainly doesn't "do" relationships. He's spent fourteen years in the Navy and now he gets to live out his other dream: teaching.
Her thirtieth birthday fast approaching, science teacher, Raine Thompson feels as if her time to find "the one" is running out. She knows life is short, especially after dealing with breast cancer two years ago, and wants to experience her own happily ever after. But is it in the cards for her?

Finally acting on the simmering attraction they have long ignored, Raine and Mac decide to have a fling and they discover what it's like to have someone who knows you inside out also be the one who makes your body come alive.

But it was only temporary…

Review: I thought I wrote a review for this book but I guess I didn't.

So here it is:

Raine and Mac sitting in a tree. K-I-S-S-I-N-G, first come love. Then comes marriage. Then comes with baby in a carriage. Oh my gosh. I had to look that up because it took me forever to remember this. But with all seriousness, I think I fell in love with RC Boldt through this book.

Raine is the girl that I want to be best friends with. Not only does she kick arse but she also can steal anyone's heart away. Mac is someone you have to look out for. He is going to take your heart, crumple it up, toss it over his shoulder, then picks it up, uncrumples it, and tries to smooth it out.

It worked for them. They have the kind of love that I want.

And, let's be honest. Most of those activities listed probably include wine or a good microbrew. Except for the running. In that case, the drinks come afterward. :)

In a new America where almost no one can be trusted, Caroline Gerard lies unconscious in a government hospital as others decide her fate. She is a political dissident, wanted for questioning by a brutal regime that has come to power. As she recovers from her injuries, all she has are her memories of a rich and beautiful past.

What does it take to heal a broken heart?

As Caroline clings to life her thoughts drift to before the regime, when she was a rising star in the House of Representatives, widowed, and raising two precocious children. She remembers her unexpected attraction to fellow politician and playboy Jack McIntyre. Jack captures her attention with his rakish grin, disarming attitude, and dry wit, and soon their friendship blossoms into much more.

Who can you trust?

Will the doctors charged with her care be able to save Caroline before it's too late? Or will she fall into the hands of those who seek to destroy her?

Set against the backdrop of a not too distant future, Dissident is a rollercoaster ride of political intrigue, passionate romance, and undying love.

The Bellator Saga is a six part series. Each full length novel ends in a cliffhanger. For readers 18+. This saga contains adult situations, including non-gratuitous violence, explicit (consensual) sex, psychological and physical trauma, and an oftentimes dark plot.

Synopsis: An escape plan foiled….

A determined woman….

One last tiny sliver of hope….

Jack will find me.

The Fed wants answers. And Caroline is determined not to provide them. They pull out all the stops, testing her sanity, testing her strength, testing her humanity.

Jack will find me.

Subject to cruel and merciless treatment at the hands of a government she once trusted, Caroline clings to her sole lifeline, her only chance at maintaining her tenuous hold on reality: her memories of her husband, Jack, her children, Marguerite and Sophie, and the friends who mean the world to her.

Jack will find me.

But what happens when hope starts to fade? How long until her interrogators cross over into the unspeakable sadism she fears ? How long before she finally breaks apart?

Part Two of a Six Part Saga. Conscience (approximately 120,000 words) is not a standalone and must be read after the first book in the Bellator Saga, Dissident. All books in the series end in a cliffhanger. For readers 18+. This book contains adult situations including graphic violence, explicit (consensual) sex and light BDSM, psychological and physical trauma, and an oftentimes raw, dark, and gritty plot.

So, due to the fact that these novels are really long, I just am taking my time reading them. I like what I am seeing so far and I can't deny that. I am really into these kinds of romance novels nowadays and I really don't know why because they usually are not up my alley. The whole BDSM was introduced to me by Fifty Shades and I am more into the more plain vanilla. In all honesty, this type of sexual activities really just hit me in the face and was like, "UM HELLO!? WE EXIST TOO! WE AREN'T BORING!"

Well damn straight, they aren't boring. It just puts me in precarious situations that make me want to squirm and feel completely uncomfortable. I mean, Caroline puts you through a lot of emotions and you know, I am still testing out the waters as too how I feel about her.

When I actually finish the book. This post will be extended so go ahead and check back before I start school again because I will be reading for most of my break or scheduling posts ahead of time because well, the holidays.

I love you, awesome book nerds and thank you guys for being so fantastic with me and patient and kind. It is really all I can ask for in readers.

Blog you later, guys! Kisses.

Author Interview: Meghan March

Hi everyone! Please give a warm welcome to Meghan March. A brilliant writer who has brought us the Dirty Billionaire series and of course, another addition to our alpha male book boyfriends list! May I just say that I am in love with this series so far and it gives Christian Grey a run for his money?

So let's get started right away!

1. What/Who inspired you to become a writer that everyone would fall in love with?

I wanted to tell stories that would offer people an escape from their everyday lives because, as a reader, that’s what I love. I’ll always consider myself a reader first and a writer second.

2. What is your favorite book series?

I love the Arcana Chronicles by Kresley Cole. It’s EPIC and her world-building is second to none.

3. If you could pick your favorite author, who would it be and why? That’s not a fair question! I have so many. Kresley Cole and Kristen Ashley are at the top of my list.

4. What inspired you to make the Dirty Billionaire series? I was on vacation in the Dominican and I had probably had a little too much coco loco, and this character’s voice popped into my head. It was Creighton Karas, and I wrote the blurb in less than two minutes. I haven’t changed it at all. The books grew from there.

5. What is your favorite genre for books? I go through phases. For years, I read nothing but historical romance, and then paranormal, and then contemporary, and then erotic. Right now, I read anything and everything that strikes my fancy.

Buy: Amazon | BN | iBooks | Kobo | Smashwords Excerpt: Dissident Jack cradled her head in his hands and kissed her hard, his tongue expertly finding hers. He turned her around until she was up against the wall and kissed her until she could barely take it anymore. She was frantically grabbing at his shirt, his tie, his suspenders. Pawing at his back and neck, anything she could hold on to in order to bring him closer to her. He spread her legs apart with his knee and leaned into her, taking his cue. She grabbed his ass and pushed herself into him until he unexpectedly pulled back. “I’m sorry,” he said breathlessly. “I promised you that I’d ask before I kissed you again.” Caroline was having a hard time concentrating. “I - what?” “I said I’d-” “I heard you.” Her mind came back into focus. “We kissed right before we left for the fundraiser. Don’t you remember?” “I do. And you were the one who kissed me. Remember?” “Now you’re concerned about propriety? After everything you just did to me?” Jack eyed her up and down. “Yes.” Caroline grabbed his tie. “Oh, shut up and put your tongue back in my mouth.” Jack kissed her again as she began to loosen his tie. She was groping at his shirt; her hands were shaking and she was having tremendous difficulty keeping them still long enough to undo the small buttons. She broke their kiss. “Damn it. Why the fuck is your shirt so complicated?” “Such coarse language from such a beautiful lady. You can rip it off if you want.” Caroline fumbled with the buttons. “Like I’m going to ruin an expensive piece of clothing. Screw it.” She trailed her fingers up his neck and through his hair before pulling him closer to her. “I’ll figure it out later.” His suspenders were much easier to pull down. Caroline could feel his smooth muscles through his dress shirt as they exchanged long, delicious kisses. She moaned against Jack’s mouth and he stepped back from their embrace. He unbuttoned his shirt and let it fall to the floor, then pulled his white undershirt over his head with ease. Caroline gaped at his chest and arms. He worked out. A lot. She was trying to figure out when he found the time to do it. He was arguably the best looking man in his forties she’d ever seen. She trailed a finger down his abdomen. “You should have taken your shirt off months ago,” she said. “I would have slept with you so much sooner.” “That’s what I like to hear.” He pushed her against the wall again. She wrapped her leg around him, pulling him even closer. “Stop talking,” Caroline said, still distracted. “Someone’s pretty bossy.” Jack brought his mouth to hers. “And eager. I wonder what for.” She could feel his cock, hard as a rock, against her hip. Even through his pants she could sense his size, and she gasped. He pulled back from her. “Do you want me to stop?” She giggled softly. “No. But I discovered that you aren’t compensating for anything with your giant house and fancy cars.”   Conscience – Book 2 - On Sale for $1.99 An escape plan foiled…. Excerpt: They were walking down the empty hall to the ballroom when Jack spun her up against the wall. “When we get back to our room I’m going to fuck you so hard you’re going to feel me with every move you make tomorrow,” he whispered into her hair. She laughed lightly. “Perverted old man. Saying something like that right before I’m going to give a speech.” “Just giving you something to think about,” he said. “If I wasn’t concerned about hidden cameras in the elevators I’d stop between floors and fuck you there too.” “I’d do it if I didn’t think it would give those damn pundits and misogynistic male bloggers something else to leer over. And it may not be very gubernatorial,” she said. “I’m trying to be more of a lady. It doesn’t seem very ladylike to let you rip off my panties and have your way with me inside an elevator car.” Jack laughed. “Says you.” He pressed his hands against her backside, rubbing his palms against the soft material of her dress. Caroline knew what kind of mood he was in. “Naughty girls get spanked,” he said in a low voice. She smiled seductively and tugged on his tie. “Don’t make promises you won’t keep.” “You know I’m good for it,” he breathed, squeezing her ass. He wasn’t lying. He always followed through on what he promised in bed, as long as they both consented to it. If he was true to his word, Caroline would have a very uncomfortable flight back to Philadelphia the next day. But it would be worth it. She got excited thinking about what the rest of the evening might bring. She brought her lips close to his. “If the public only knew, Mr. McIntyre. The dirty, nasty things you do to your wife when you know for certain that no one else is around.” “They’re almost always at Mrs. McIntyre’s request,” Jack said, kissing her softly. “Even if they’re borderline illegal in some states. I live to make her happy.” “I know you do,” Caroline whispered. She wrapped one of her legs around him subtly so that no one else could see. One of her more effective tricks. She pressed up against his hip and kissed him, feeling him start to get hard. “You’re not playing fair,” Jack said against her mouth. “That’s what you get for distracting me,” she said silkily. “Now you’ve got something to focus on for the rest of the night. I’m going to be very, very bad. Be ready.” He reluctantly slid his hands off her ass. “I’m always ready.” Caroline heard voices nearby and practically jumped away from him. “I’ll see you in the ballroom, Jack,” she said in a loud singsong voice. She turned around and winked at him before striding down the hall, leaving him with a dazed grin on his face.     Sojourn – Book 3 – Releasing 12/7/2015  Haunted by her experience at The Fed, Caroline tries to create a new identity. A new present, a new future. She can't escape the memories that dog her when she least expects it, leaving her mired in a depression that she finds difficult to escape. Caroline needs to regain her physical and mental strength if she intends on surviving the journey to find the elusive rebellion. But that's easier said than done with the ghosts of the past constantly whispering in her ear. The road is long and dangerous, and there are no guarantees. She and her companions have no idea what they will find when they arrive at their destination. And what they finally discover may change everything. Part Three of a Six Part Saga. Sojourn (approximately 90,000 words) is not a standalone and must be read after the first two books in the series. Ends in a cliffhanger. For readers 18+. Excerpt: Caroline felt soft lips against her cheek. A sweet voice in her ear.“Hello, sweetheart.”She curled in closer to the voice and was greeted by a hard, muscular chest. Two strong arms came around her shoulders.Jack chuckled. “You don’t know what it does to a man when he walks into his bedroom and sees his wife sprawled out on the bed wearing nothing but a blouse and a garter belt.”“Tired,” she mumbled. “Took a nap.”His hands moved down her body. “Managed to take off your skirt, though.”She’d come home after a hectic morning at one of her field offices. Early July meant constituent families would visit her with their kids in tow to give them a lesson in democracy. Caroline thought it was cute, though it did make her miss Marguerite and Sophie. After a few meetings she’d come home intending to take the shortest of breaks before preparing for the next morning’s House session.“Meant to get to the rest of my clothes after I rested my eyes for a minute,” she said. Jack chuckled again, nuzzling her cheek. “You failed.” Her husband was in Pennsylvania campaigning. Why was he in her bed? “Is this a dream?” “No. If it is, the black hose and matching bra are a nice touch,” he said, starting to unbutton her blouse. “We’ll have to work on a French maid outfit for next time.” “Didn’t think about it. It’s what I wore to work.” His fingers trailed down her stomach, toward her belly button. They drifted over her garter belt. “Why did you wear this today?” “It reminds me of you.” He withdrew his hands. “You did think about it.” Caroline fell into his arms again, half asleep. “Don’t know.” Jack kissed her neck, casually palming one of her breasts. “I’ve missed you,” he whispered. “I want you.” She was trying to picture what she must look like half undressed and drowsy as hell. “My laziness turns you on?” she asked, trying to open her eyes. “You call it laziness, I call it consideration. Next time you can get completely naked and I won’t mind.” She had to be dreaming. “What are you doing here?” “This week has been hell. Being in hotel rooms, sleeping alone, wishing you were there beside me…I wanted to see you.” “You have a campaign to attend to.” “I have my job here in Washington, too. And a woman I love, who needs me.” He snaked his fingers down her body, inching closer to her panty line. “I’ve missed this. It’s been too long, baby.” She blinked and saw him lying next to her. “You really are here.” Jack smiled. “You thought it was a dream?” She spent half her time whether asleep or awake thinking about him and his magic hands. And tongue. And other things. “I can never be sure.” “Do you have a lot of dreams about me coming into our bedroom and ravishing you in your sleep?” Oh, the stories she could tell. “A lady reveals nothing,” she said softly. “But since I’m not a lady, I’ll tell you that yes, I dream about it all the time.”

Blog Tour: Character Interview & Playlist: Twisted Sisters - Kimber Leigh Wheaton (The Orion Circle #2)

Character Interview

I’d like to welcome Daniel Westin to tell us a bit more about his paranormal ability and his work with the Orion Circle.
Welcome, Daniel!
Thanks. Always happy to share my knowledge about the paranormal. It keeps people out of trouble… the more you know and all that.
You are a clairsentient, correct? Tell us a little about it.
I get psychic images from touching objects. Like, I can see an objects origin, the people who touched it, where it’s been. Sometimes it’s cool, sometimes it’s overwhelming.
That sounds difficult. Do you get readings from everything you touch?
Sort of. Over time it became like background noise, you know. You can sit in a crowded cafeteria and hear hundreds of students talking all around you and still tune them out to a certain extent. That’s what I have to do with objects. The problem arises when I touch something supernaturally charged.
Like??
Our last case. There was a spirit board that three angry ghosts came through. I felt their emotions, their turmoil. It was awful. Psychic energy takes an object from a background hum in my mind to a scream that’s impossible to ignore. On that note—spirit boards are dangerous. Don’t play with them. Ever.
Good advice. I say never mess with things you don’t understand.
Exactly.
What do you do when you aren’t out doing paranormal investigations?
I love acting. I’m usually in about four plays a year. Soccer is also starting up now which is my favorite sport to play. I’m only about three months from my black belt in Tae Kwon Do. But really, the Circle keeps us pretty busy. There’s no shortage of paranormal disasters.
I noticed that every Circle member seems to be involved in martial arts.
It’s a requirement. We investigate all sorts of things, not just hauntings. Several months ago, I went on a hunt for a rogue werewolf who refused to follow the pack to safe hunting grounds during the full moon. That has disaster written all over it. Knowing how to defend ourselves is important in the field. We also train with silver daggers. They do damage to lots of supernatural creatures including vampires and werewolves.
Does it scare you? Hunting vampires?
I haven’t been on a vampire hunt yet. But, yes, it does scare me… quite a bit actually.
Then why do it?
Someone has to. I was born with a gift. I want to help people with it. If vampires start killing people in our area, then I’ll hunt them with my friends.
What does your family think of your psychic gift?
That is a long story and not one I’d like to go into. My father is a renowned psychiatrist in the field of delusional disorders. To him, psychic powers are a delusion. Enough said.
I’m sorry about your family. It must be hard to lack the support.
I have the Orion Circle. We are a family and we support each other. I feel sorry for people like my father—too closed-minded to experience everything this world has to offer.
Let’s end on a positive note. If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?
I’d love to go on a paranormal tour of England and Scotland—especially the Tower of London. Though, I’d have to wear gloves. Can you imagine the anguish contained in those walls? I’d hate to accidentally touch something… unpleasant.
And fictional world? Where would you go?
Hmm, how about Wonderland. I’ve spent several years being told I’m insane. It’d be nice to go someplace where everyone is crazier than I am.

Excerpt

I sense movement, and in the next moment Tracy throws herself at the barrier, a screaming, howling banshee. She fights against the magic barring her. Static electricity sparks through the room, zooming around, visible in the darkness. I push Kacie behind me as the manic ghost continues her relentless assault on the barrier. A deafening boom reverberates through the room, followed by a wave of energy. I push Kacie down, falling on top of her to shield her from the ghost’s wrath. Pain lances up my back like thousands of cat claws, making me cry out both in shock and pain. I glance back—Samson and Delilah hiss their displeasure at Tracy, their claws digging into my back.
The claws retract when I yell at them, and all the other pain surfaces. Ignoring the throbbing in my ribs, I roll to my side to free Kacie, sending the cats leaping away. Tracy lets out one last anguished wail before slumping and falling to the floor. My familiars circle her prone body, mouths open, scenting the air. The heaviness in the air lessens, but I continue to take in shallow breaths to keep from aggravating the pain. I watch Tracy, searching for… well not signs of life, but existence? Her form flickers like an old movie, and I wonder if she’ll just wink out of existence.
“Is she…” Blake trails off, pushing himself up on his elbows. “That was quite a blast. You both okay?”
“Yeah,” Kacie says, rubbing her head. “Where’s Mr. Kincaid?”
“Out here,” Mr. Kincaid says from the hall. “I got out just before the explosion.”
“Logan…” Kacie pulls on my arm while pointing at Tracy’s prone form. “I’ve never seen, I mean, she can’t…”
“Her spirit would’ve disappeared if she was destroyed.” I try to struggle to my feet but give up, sagging back down. Kacie leans against me, and I wrap my arms around her.
Blake eyes us. “You two are not okay.”
“When Tracy forced the barrier, she released a lot of psychic energy,” I say, resting my cheek on Kacie’s head.
“It drained all of us, not just her,” Kacie adds.
“I feel fine,” Blake says stretching his arms over his head.
“Yeah, why is that?” I ask, unable to hide the genuine surprise from my voice.
“Rebecca will be thrilled,” Kacie says.
Blake raises his brows. “Why, she like stamina?”
Kacie giggles. “Get your mind out of the gutter, Blake. She likes researching puzzles.”
“Oh, no. I ain’t no one’s guinea pig.”
Tracy’s spirit releases a soft sigh, like a light exhale of breath… if ghosts could breathe. She floats to her feet as though controlled by invisible strings. Still solid, her dark eyes scan the room. A smile crosses her face when she realizes that she made it through the psychic barrier. All I can do is stare at the ghost and wonder what that mysterious smile means. Maybe she’s as drained as we are. Kacie squeezes my hand, her aura flickering from exhaustion. I meet her gaze. Evade and stall for time to recover—I try to send the message to her in my expression.
“Now that you’re in here, love,” Blake says, gesturing at the room. “Care to share why you wanted in so bad?”
Tracy blushes at Blake’s obvious flirting. I had no idea a spirit could blush, even one who appears as human as she does. I mean, it takes blood to blush, right? More manipulation? She glides to one of the beds and reaches out to it. Her hand goes straight through. When she tries again, she lets out a frustrated growl as her hand once again passes through the mattress.
“I can’t touch anything?” she says, her words sounding more like a question than a statement.
One moment she’s by the bed and the next she appears inches from Blake’s face. He doesn’t flinch, which I have to admit is rather impressive. I’m pretty sure even I’d have reacted to her sudden appearance.
“Are you really a werewolf?” she asks, leaning so close they’d touch were she human.
“Yep.” Blake manages a blank face as the ghost circles him.
“Shift for me.”
“It ain’t a full moon, love,” he says, shrugging his shoulders. I’m well aware that Blake can shift whenever he wants. He’s a born alpha werewolf, not a bite victim. Blake’s features take on a look of complete innocence. Damn but he can rival Kacie and Daniel in the acting department. “Why’re you deflecting attention from that bed? What’s under that mattress?”
“Nothing,” she says, backing away, shaking her head furiously.
“Now we both know that ain’t the truth.” Blake saunters over to the bed and lifts the mattress.
“No!”
“Now what have we here?” Blake tosses a small book to me.
I open the book and flip through the pages. “It’s a journal.”
“It’s mine!” Tracy howls, making a grab for the book. But her hand passes through. She may have enough power left to look almost human, but not enough to manipulate physical objects.
Kacie takes the book, hugging it to her chest. “This is very private, but it could also be what’s keeping you from moving on.”
Tracy’s form flickers and sinks to the floor. She returns to an ethereal, misty spirit, and I can’t help but notice how much lighter she is now than before. Swirling white and light gray misty energy compose her figure, a sure sign that she’s close to acceptance of her fate.
“I’ll talk, but just to you,” she says, pointing at Kacie.
“No,” I say, unwilling to leave Kacie alone with this dangerous adversary.
“Of course,” Kacie says, directing a glare at me.

It’s a child’s toy—what could go wrong?

While playing with a spirit board, two sorority sisters summon the vindictive spirits of three women brutally murdered by a psychopath. Join Logan, Kacie, and the rest of the Orion Circle as they delve into the disturbing events of the past to find the key to freeing the spirits.

But this isn’t any ordinary haunting.  These ghosts were banished before, and now they have returned more powerful than anyone could have imagined. Anger breeds hatred and hatred leads to darkness—these phantoms are on the verge of losing their last spark of humanity and becoming completely lost to the shadows.

Can Logan and Kacie convince the tortured souls to embrace the light and move on, or will the spirits succumb to the hypnotic pull of evil, leading to an eternity of torment and suffering?
