Bitter - S.L. Romines (Bitter #1)

Published Date: September 28, 2015
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Synopsis: Bitter-
(of people or their feelings or behavior) angry, hurt, or resentful because of one's bad experiences or a sense of unjust treatment.

Vivian Halliwell will be the first to admit that she’s the ultimate definition of a bitter bitch.

And rightfully so.

Surviving an explosive past, Vivian has guarded her heart with steel walls and a barbwire attitude. Only letting a handful of people close to her, she has built a life that suits her just fine.

Well, that was until…

When Sex-On-Legs Corporal Jax Maddox walks into her life, Vivian’s world is tossed upside down. Always keeping her emotions at bay, the six foot two Marine shows her that love is worth fighting for, even if you have to break down a few walls, deal with a butt picking, lollypop licking mini adult, slap a smile on your face, and point out a few crusty empanadas along the way…the ride is totally worth it.

(This book is intended for readers 18 and over due to explicit sexual content and foul language)

God, this book is hilarious and I was giggling on the train as I read this book. There was no ending and maybe I liked this book because of the wry humor within the pages and well, I laugh a lot at the words that authors give me and well, I make a metal movie in my head as it is happening.

This quote:

"That's hot."
Never, have I heard a man scream like a bitch before. But Jax, just now confirmed that some men do possess a feminine side.
"Damn, woman! Are you trying to kill me?" he squeaks out, placing the spatula over his chest.

God, I would love to hear this in person and as I am mentally picturing it, it gets even better and better. Wouldn't every person love to hear some macho man scream like a little girl?

Vivian tugs at your heart strings and well Jax is one of the most patient guys ever. Viv doesn't want to date. She hates men to the end of the world until her best friend, Cass, sets her up with Jax. A marine on leave for only two weeks and well, he just sounds hot as hell.

I rate this book a good 4 out of 5 stars because well, you'll either love the characters or just hate them in general. I loved the good laugh after such depressing stories and well, I like Vivian's spunk. She's got it and she cusses with a sailor's mouth.

Author Interview: Candace Blevins

I want to kick things off with how awesome freaking Candace Blevins is for joining us today for an awesome little blog interview. Her Bash series really made me squirm in my seat and you know, all that good stuff.

I really do not know why I keep putting myself through the situation where I constantly feel paranoid when I read her books at school because you know how pretty graphic they are.

Well here's a small excerpt for you:
Eight years ago
Angelica
Kayla met me in the bathroom after last period, and watched as I changed out of my super tiny mini-skirt into jeans. God, if my dad saw me in this skirt he’d have an aneurism.
“I can’t believe you lost Brain. God, Ang, he’s the best biker-bitch you’ve had yet.”
Speaking of aneurisms, my dad nearly had one when he found out Kayla called me Ang. He calls me Angel, but says no one else is allowed to shorten my name. One of the reasons I love Kayla is she isn’t afraid of my dad, or any of the other bikers, and she just kept calling me what she wanted.
I shrugged as I buttoned my jeans and stowed the skirt in my backpack. “I got one of the new guys, I’ve only met him a couple of times. He looks like he’s pissed at the world, and I seriously doubt he’s going to be any fucking help at all with my calculus or chemistry homework.”
“He have a cool name?” she asked as we left the bathroom.
“Bash, and best I can tell, it isn’t ‘cause he’s bashful. And damn, the boy is beautiful.” And he’d be so fucking pissed if he knew I’d called him a boy.
“How you gonna break him in?”
I shook my head. “Haven’t decided. He’s actually kinda scary, even for one of my dad’s men. Also, I don’t think he’s that much older than us. I know when he first came, he couldn’t have even the prospect patch yet, ’cause he wasn’t old enough. They treated him like one, which had to suck, but he didn’t get his first patch until a few weeks ago, so I think he just turned eighteen.”
“You know his story?”
I shook my head. “He has a fucked up accent though. He isn’t from around here.”
Kayla showed the assistant principal the note from her mom saying she could ride home with me, and he waved us to the RTMC vehicle waiting in the car line.
I got into the front passenger seat and settled my backpack at my feet as I put my seatbelt on and told him, “Bash, meet Kayla. She’s my BFF and you’re her ride now, too. Not just mine.”
He breathed deep, and I assumed he’d just realized she’s human and not wolf, and I added, “We have a problem, you take care of her first, then me. I can handle myself a few minutes, but she isn’t a fighter. Get me?”
He pulled forward and glanced in his rear view mirror at Kayla before looking forward again. “My orders are to keep you safe, Princess.”
I sighed and leaned my head back, looking at the road instead of him. “Those are your orders from my dad. Thing is, I can make your life a living hell if I want, or I can help make this a cushy assignment until you get your patch. I’ve grown up in the club, I know the drill. When Kayla and I became best friends in the fourth grade, our dads had a talk. Their agreement was she’d come to the house, but never to the club, and there’d be no parties at our house when she’s over. She hasn’t been around ya’ll much at all. Her parents have met my prospect chauffeurs over the years, and they’re mostly chilled about it now, but they’ll need to meet you sometime this week.”
“Basically,” Kayla said from the backseat, “you’re our bitch now. You’re our ride when we need one, and you go get stuff we need, even if it’s tampons at two in the morning. You’ll carry our packages for us when we go shopping at the mall, and if we ask if our ass looks fat when we try on clothes, you’ll be honest and tell it to us straight from a guy’s perspective.”

“And not,” I added, my voice low and deep, “from my father’s viewpoint.” I held my wolf in, so I didn’t growl at him in front of Kayla. “I know you’re supposed to cock-block us, but I also know you can’t actually hurt any of the guys.” He held his hand up, thinking he could silence me, and I said, “Fuck you, asshole. I’ll talk when I fuckin’ want to.”

Now that that is done, please join me in applauding Candace Blevins with us. WHOO! Yeah, I'm not a 'WHOO' kind of girl so just applaud in your head. Or aloud. Whatever works best for you awesome book nerds.

Q: What is for you the perfect book hero?

I don’t think there’s a single description. I’ve fallen in love with good guys, bad guys, antiheros… I need them to be honest, but otherwise, I’m not sure you can put the perfect hero into a tidy little box.

Q: When you start a book, do you already have the whole story in your head or is it built progressively?

In the beginning I was a total pantser. Now, I’m kind of a hybrid pantser/planner. I know my characters inside and out before I start, and I know their backstories, as well as the main events of the book, and the basic ending. However, if I do much more than that, my muse gets bored. She often takes the stories in directions I hadn’t intended. We end up at the same ending, but there are often several fun detours, along the way.

Q: When did you first consider yourself a writer?

When I got my first decently-sized royalty check.

I used to juggle professionally, and I didn’t consider myself a “professional” juggler until I made a good bit of money doing so, as well. For some, the fact they write everyday makes them a writer, and that’s fine for other people, but it wasn’t real for me until I was holding a check.

THANK YOU, CANDACE BLEVINS FOR JOINING US TODAY! It really meant a lot to have you as my first author interview.

Bash, Volume III - Candace Blevins (Rolling Thunder Motorcycle Club #5)

Copy received from author and ROCKSTAR PR in exchange for honest review
Published Date: November 6, 2015
Genre: Erotica/Fantasy
Synopsis: Book three of the Bash trilogy…

Will Angelica save herself, or will she have to be saved? Either way, knowing what Bud and Bash are capable of, do we want to know the repercussions?

Follow Bash, Angelica, and the rest of the MC for the exciting conclusion.

Warning: BDSM activities, intense kink, blazing hot ménage sex, smoldering couple’s sex, danger, intrigue, and more alpha werewolf bad-asses than you’d want to shake a stick at.

This is the final installment of a three book story, with a happy ending and no cliffhangers.

"He made me forget how cold and hard the world could be, reminded me of the heat and depth of his love, and how safe I'll always be in his arms."

God this quote is what I want to feel when i meet he one.

Like what? You hated Bash in the first two books but by this book, you will be completely infatuated with him. I mean, what is not to love. He is the definition of an alpha male. He takes control of situations and although he acts like a brat at times, Angelica is able to handle every bit of him and love him at the same time.

Candace Blevins wasn't kidding about menage a trois situations in this book and well, I still feel awkward that they share Angelica with his best friend. I mean, well wolves do the whole polyamorous thing because of alpha male situations but damn... I never have been so fidgety by reading a book.

I loved this book none the less and I want more Bash. I want more Angelica. But most all, I want more of Dawg. His name is completely strange but what's a motorcycle gang without nicknames? Am I right, or am I right?

ARC: Agony - Yolanda Olson

ARC received in exchange for an honest review
Published Date: November 21, 2015
Genre: Dark/New Adult
Synopsis: Neve Dutton leaves New York with the promise of stardom in her eyes. Never wanting to be in front of the cameras, she's happiest following her career choice of being a director's assistant. But when she lands a job at an adult entertainment company, she realizes that her dream job is really a nightmare. Tricked by her cousin, Adesynne, into working for the porn giant company Devil's Den, Neve finds her days are full of awkward moments, stress, uncomfortable shoots, and wishing for nothing more than to be back home. Until she meets Arsen Caldwell. Arsen hides his secret from Neve for as long as he can and helps to get her transferred to another company where she lands a job with Jareth Vance of Golden Hills Media. Jareth sees a potential star in Neve, but she doesn't know that her first starring roll could possibly be her last.

Holy shit, holy shit, holy shit, holy shit, holy shit, holy shit, holy shit, holy shit, holy shit, holy shit, holy shit, holy shit, holy shit... The only thing running through my mind is what the hell did I just read. So this is the first book I read from Yolanda and well, it was dark as hell.

Whatever you want to call it, the plot twist/ending really got me. It tugged at my heart strings and well, I just couldn't sleep last night after i finished the book. You know, how after you read a book, you're supposed to be complacent with the ending? Not with this book. Like what the actual fuck, Yolanda?

You have one sick, twisted, dark mind but I liked it enough to keep reading the book. So props to you but in all honesty, it was really short so it got rushed by the end. I didn't know how I felt about Neve but her cousin, Adesynne is one of the funniest characters to get to know. But I would also feel sick to my stomach if my cousin set me up with some job like that as well. Meeting a hot guy while on set? What the chances that he isn't some porn star? Slim to none.

Every character in this book is sick and twisted or become just that along the way as the plot thickens. Would I rather have this as a full-length novel? Yeah, I would. But I would rather not have this happen to anyone in all honesty. I was depressed by the end. For Neve. For Arsen. For Adesynne. God.

Adesynne and Neve's relationship is the one I have with my cousin and it made me put it into my eyes. My shoes. Truly mad my heart break. I rate this book a solid 3 out of 5 stars and I recommend this to those who can stomach dark and twisted things and the horrors that occur. If you can't, don't read this book.

Blog Tour: Tortured Souls - Kimber Leigh Wheaton (The Orion Circle #1)

Copy provided by author in exchange for an honest review

Published Date: July 28, 2014
Genre: Fantasy/Paranormal
Synopsis: Sometimes Rest in Peace isn't an option...

Kacie Ramsey sees ghosts—and it's ruining her life. Her mother left, her father blames her, and no matter how hard she tries, she can't keep the ghosts away. Now a new power has emerged. Nightly visions of grisly murders and a relentless predator draw her to the brink of insanity.

When the phantom appears at a party, Kacie's longtime crush, Logan, saves her. He invites her to join the Orion Circle, a group of supernatural hunters with chapters in schools all over the country. Through the Circle, Kacie learns to embrace her spiritual powers, and for the first time in her life she feels in control rather than a victim.

But the Foxblood Demon will not give up so easily. A demented serial killer in life who trapped the souls of the thirteen children he murdered, imprisoning them within the walls of his mansion. Now in death, he plots his return while drawing power from the pure souls of the children. He recognizes something in Kacie he's never seen before—a medium powerful enough to provide a vessel for his tainted soul.

Kacie can't ignore the tortured souls of the children crying out to her every night. With Logan at her side, she will fight the Foxblood Demon. But can they banish this powerful phantom, or will Kacie lose not only her body, but her eternal soul to the monster.

I immediately became obsessed with this book. I read this book within a day and I don't mind the lack of sleep from it.  I mean, this book was genuinely creepy and yet the MC didn't piss me off. Maybe it was because she wasn't a complete stubborn mule towards her boyfriend.

As a strong physic medium, she fights next to her boyfriend. Doesn't cower. Doesn't scream for help. She actually fights. The Foxblood Demon wants her but she's going to fight to the end to not allow that to happen.

There is an undeniable attraction between Kacie and Logan. He tells her that she isn't alone with her psychic powers and their connection just makes them a hell of a lot stronger when facing the worst of the worst. You learn more and more about Kacie and how she struggled with her powers and how her family refused to accept it.

Her mother disowned her and not her brother, all because she couldn't handle her daughter being just like her. Yeah, you heard me right. I don't see why Kacie shouldn't hate her mother for doing that to her. Especially after traumatic ghost. She gains the help of several Native American chiefs and eventually crosses that ghost over. He was a creepy mother fucker and I was so relieved once he was gone.

NOW, HERE COMES THE RATING! DRUMROLL PLEASE!

I rate this book a solid 3.9 out of 5 stars and I loved this book. It was new. It was fresh. It is definitely something I would gift myself in paperback.

Blitz: Anarchy Found - J.A. Huss

Anarchy Found – Alpha Lincoln
J.A. Huss
(SuperAlpha Series)
Publication date: December 2nd 2015 (Pre-order 11/29!)
Genre: Superhero Romance

Everyone needs a hero.
That’s what Detective Molly Masters tells me. “What we need,” she says, “what the whole world needs,” she pleads, “is a champion.”
The only thing I want to talk about with Molly Masters is how I’d like to make her scream my name when I push her up against a wall, slide my hand up her thigh, and live out my wildest fantasies.
“Someone who will fight against injustice,” she says.
I’ll fight against anything you want, honey. Just come a little closer.
“Someone who will stand tall in the face of adversity,” she says.
I’ll do it standing, sitting, or lying down. See how easy I am?
“Someone who believes in the value of a good deed,” she says.
I believe in the value of me, sweetheart. Because I’m Lincoln Wade. Jaded genius, obscenely wealthy, capable of violence, and looking for revenge.
Molly Masters might have delusions of grandeur. She might see me as some superman capable of cleaning up the scum, filth, and corruption in Cathedral City.
But I’m not the hero she’s looking for.
I’m the dark alley where all her good intentions hide.
So be careful what you wish for, Molly Masters.
Because you’re about to get it.

Book Trailer:

EXCERPT:
Little red lights line the tunnel. It sorta reminds me of an airport runway. The mud turns to concrete about twenty feet in and there’s a small light up ahead. I’m really not sure what to expect, so I get my gun out just in case.
A few paces on and the tunnel turns sharply to the left where the light is brighter. I can hear yelling. Bike boy is yelling.
Someone is talking back to him, but he’s laughing too. I let out my breath and relax a little as I creep forward into the chamber. The first thing I see is the wrecked bike mounted on a red mechanic’s lift. Then toolboxes, some weird contraption that looks like a… robot, rolling around? A computer, then another, and another. A whole wall of computers, actually. Food wrappers and half-empty protein shake containers. Parts. A black muscle car. A long table lined with shit that looks like pieces from a chemistry lab. And a massive aquarium-sized tank holding luminescent jellyfish.
All this time bike boy is yelling and waving those black-gloved hands in the air, splashing a protein drink all over the floor.
“What the fuck, Case? I told you not to mess with my bike, you asshole.”
“I didn’t touch your bike, Lincoln.”
“Stay the fuck out of my business. I crashed the goddamned bike and had to hitch a ride home and Sheila is somehow offline. Offline! You motherfucker!”
“Calm down,” Case says. “She’s not gonna miss anything being offline for a few minutes. In fact, if I were you I’d be asking how it’s possible she got knocked off so easy. Doesn’t that strike you as weird?” It comes from a giant face on a wall-sized flat screen mounted on the side of a… cave? What the fuck? “And you lost your right to work alone months ago, so don’t get all self-righteous about me being around today.”
“What’s that supposed to—“
“Hey, asshole,” the guy on the screen says over bike boy’s tantrum, cutting him off.
“I didn’t need this complication—” Bike boy stops talking. Because the guy on the screen is waggling his eyebrows at me. “What the fuck are you doing?” bike boy asks. “Stop making stupid faces—”
“We have com-pan-eee.” The guy on the giant screen nods his head at me.
Bike boy whirls around, shoots me a dirty look, and then growls, “I’ll call you back,” as the giant screen goes black.
We stare at each other for a few moments, our eyes locked. “Oh, my—”
“You’re still here,” he says over me.
“—God.” I look around one more time.
1. Cave filled with…
2. Super bike.
3. Souped-up muscle car.
4. Giant flatscreen phone chat.
5. Computers everywhere.
6. Robot?
7. Some kind of science lab.
A few loud beeps interrupt my list. “Online,” a female voice says from the ceiling. A pause, and then, “There has been a breach and we have a visitor.” A hologram in the form of a woman appears in the middle of the cave and I can only assume this is…
8. Sheila, apparently back online.
I look around a little more and spy… not a cape, thank God, but a… a…
9. Helicopter, parked at the far end of the enormous cavern.
And then I get the perfect list after all, because I see…
10. Guns.
No, they are more than mere guns. I know my way around a gun and these are—
“What the fuck are you doing here, gun girl? I thought we parted back in the forest.”
“Oh, my God,” I repeat. “You’re Batman.”

Vampire Addiction - Eva Pohler (The Vampires of Athens #1)

Publication Date: January 1, 2015
Genre: Fantasy
Synopsis: Some call them "tramps." In Greek, they are called vrykolakas, or "vryks," which sometimes gets translated to "freaks." They are the vampires of Athens, created centuries ago by the Maenads. They live in caves beneath the acropolis, without economic resources and according to rules imposed on them by the Olympians. They are forbidden from turning humans into vampires, which happens when all of the blood is drained; however, they are allowed to drink from a willing mortal. Some mortals are willing because a vampire bite will infect the body for six hours, and, during that time, the mortal has the powers of flight, invisibility, strength, speed, x-ray vision, and mind control. Such great power can become irresistible, though dangerous and addicting to mortals.

As seventeen-year-old Gertie, studying abroad from New York, uncovers the unfathomable secrets of this ancient city, she unwittingly becomes a catalyst in an uprising led by Dionysus, the god of wine and lord of the vampires.

I don't mean to sounds well... Mean... Don't get me wrong but I am a mean person. I don't know whether Eva was just starting out but this book in particular was very under developed, the characters had no personality, it was a cliche love triangle. You can almost say that it is the most cliche book ever.

In all honesty, Gertie was supposed to be completely different. Although she comes from this huge rich family, she's not a complete snob. She can read and it is all fantasy books. Fascinating. Hear the sarcasm in my voice?

I fell asleep after the first 5 chapters and well, I wasn't impressed with the other 25 chapters. I mean come on... You move to a new city because your parents ship to off to god knows where, you meet a handsome stranger on the bus. Okay? Fair enough. But you talk to a stranger on a bus and well, maybe I just hate people and don't talk with strangers anywhere that I go.

Comment on that. I mean, my best friend was a stranger and well, I was like "I like you. Let's hang out more." Ta-Da, best friend made.

But back to my review. Well, I am just annoyed about the fact that these guys automatically fall in love with even though they have just met her. She's been there for what, a week? Two? Three? She's got four guys on her. Metaphorically.

The only interesting part was Alexander and how he was the evil character in the book. Well, he got killed for attacking Gertie but that was the only exciting thing about this book. Everyone else, blah, blah, blah, just came out of their mouths.

I was just really annoyed with this book and I wish it was so much better than I actually felt. Anyways, this book gets a solid 1.5 out of 5 stars. Sorry but do not waste your time with this book or series.

UPDATE: On My Life (Oh, so interesting... NOT.) Pt. 3

You know, working two jobs is awful. I am taking time away from reading and I also haven't done any homework. So let's procrastinate even more.

I have a lot of good little reviews coming your way soon but I didn't finish one for today.

But I just wanted to update you guys. As my finals are approaching, my reviews will be diminishing as I will keep my time towards studying and my jobs. In about two weeks, however, I am all yours. ;) I don't know about you but I love listening to music while I am studying so I am going list a couple of my favorite songs right now:

Hello - Adele
Same Old Love - Selena Gomez
Focus - Ariana Grande
Locked Away - R.City and Adam Levine
Cuckoo Song - Adam Lambert
Jar of Hearts - Christina Perri

Alright, that's only a small amount of the songs that I am currently enjoying.

I am watching Empire, Scream Queens, and of course, Mistresses. Don't judge me but I love my daily binge watching of drama.

Alright, blog you later, awesome book nerds.

Bash, Volume II - Candace Blevins (Rolling Thunder Motorcycle Club #4)

Copy received from author and ROCKSTAR PR in exchange for honest review
Published Date: October 16, 2015
Genre: Erotica/Fantasy
Synopsis: Their lives just got complicated, but neither of them are the type to travel the easy road.

Book two of the Bash trilogy…

Will Bud want to tear Bash to pieces? How is Dawg going to fit into all of this? Will the Disciples retaliate? And now that the District Attorney is in Angelica’s life, can she get him out?

Bash may have claimed her in both wolf and human form, but Angelica isn't likely to just roll over and show him her belly every time he gives her an order. One night of incredible sex doesn’t mean the relationship will be smooth sailing. They both want it to work, though, and they’re both used to getting what they want.

Warning: A touch more BDSM, tons of raw kink, blazing hot sex, danger, intrigue, and there might even be a sexy ménage.

This is volume two of a three book story. Beware of the cliffhanger at the end, but book three will release a mere two weeks after book two.

Fair warning and heed it wisely because of the fact that I am becoming obsessed with this series. I just cannot put it down no matter how awkward it is reading it in public. I mean this is some fucked up shit. I am not going to lie. Although they are bad ass bikers, they treat their women so sweetly. Other than the dirty talking of course.

Ménage sex needless to say is hot as hell in this book and well if you aren't prepared... Don't read it because I immediately had to shut my kindle off after I saw what they were doing.

Bash isn't a complete heartless bastard as people are painting him out to be. He seemed like a complete asshole but he's really just a super alpha and he just wants to dominate in both human and wolf form of Angelica. His Princess. His Tink. His Girly. His Angel. No one else can touch her except of course, his best friend. I mean who else are they going to get it on with?

Wouldn't that feel awkward, needless to say? I mean... Come on. Sharing your girl with your best friend and only in bed and if the other cannot comfort them? I would feel awkward. It's almost an open relationship but even weirder in my eyes.

Let's be honest. It's awkward. It's fun. It's sexy and damn does it tug at your heart strings. I am becoming slightly obsessed with Bash and Angelica's relationship because I want it. Well, want it minus to menage because he is mine, mine, and all mine.

I am going to rate this book a solid 3.5 out of 5 stars. I liked the first book a lot better than this one but we will see where the third book takes us.
