A Shade of Vampire - Bella Forrest (Shade of Vampire #1)

Published Date: December 17, 2012
Genre: Romance
Synopsis: On the evening of Sofia Claremont's seventeenth birthday, she is sucked into a nightmare from which she cannot wake.

A quiet evening walk along a beach brings her face to face with a dangerous pale creature that craves much more than her blood.

She is kidnapped to an island where the sun is eternally forbidden to shine.
An island uncharted by any map and ruled by the most powerful vampire coven on the planet. She wakes here as a slave, a captive in chains.

Sofia's life takes a thrilling and terrifying turn when she is the one selected out of hundreds of girls to join the harem of Derek Novak, the dark royal Prince.

Despite his addiction to power and obsessive thirst for her blood, Sofia soon realizes that the safest place on the island is within his quarters, and she must do all within her power to win him over if she is to survive even one more night.

Will she succeed? ...or is she destined to the same fate that all other girls have met at the hands of the Novaks?

I want to start this review off with the fact that I hate vampire romance stories but Derek Novak is ultimately heartbreaking and the only who can heal him is Sofia Claremont. Don't get me wrong, Sofia makes you want to hug her and never let go. She is a strong heroine and yet, she is this mothering figure within the book.

Something that all the characters seem to need. They cling to her. At least the humans do. The vampires however, they cling to something else of her.

The dangerous pale creature that they speak of, well he disgusts me as the book progresses. He ultimately tries to make himself an alpha male but the only one who is really the alpha male is Derek. He is one of those beautiful creatures. You know... The Twilight stuff.

But in all honesty, I am tempted to continue the story but I've heard some horror stories about it. As a blogger, I shouldn't go off of what other people say but it's just so easy to listen to them and show what they didn't like about it. The question is, am I willing to spend 4 USD to continue the series?

I rate this book a good 3.8 out of 5 stars and I am hoping that there will be more of a jump in their relationship now. But I'm sure there will be the classic love triangle.

The Panty Whisperer - Sloane Howell

Published Date: January 6, 2015
Genre: Erotica
Synopsis: **Warning: Contains adult language and steamy, hot, erotic thigh quivering descriptions. Enjoy!**

I want you to remember my face. I want to watch your eyes roll up in your head, your toes cramp up while curling under your feet, your thighs trembling around my face, begging for me. I want to own your mind for the rest of your life. The thought of me will be a thirst you can't quench, a drug you can't have, an itch that cannot be scratched, no matter how hard you try. Nobody will send a shock of neural ecstasy to the tips of your toes the way I will. Care to bet me?

Most people have something they're good at: math, sports, music, art. I was born with a more specific talent, pleasing women. I don't know how or why it happened, it's built into my DNA. I've always had the golden tongue, able to talk women into fulfilling their deepest, darkest fantasies. My name is Joel Hannover, but my friends call me the panty whisperer.

I work as an accounting software consultant. It sounds fancy, like I should be good with math or computers. In reality I'm a salesman. My job just happens to be perfect for my hobby. Most accounting departments are comprised of women. Women most people believe are boring or uneventful. I meet these women every day. Insecure, dressed conservatively, hiding their beautiful bodies behind layers of clothing, afraid a few pounds of baby weight may still show. Ladies who work crossword puzzles and process numbers and transactions. It's all a facade, these women are sexual creatures who want to have all of their desires met and all of their needs fulfilled. Begging for someone to explore them, to bring them out of their shell and release the sexual tension that has saturated their entire being, afraid to break free.

Meet Jessica Moore: mid-thirties, married with two kids, unhappy. Incredibly sexy! Will I open her mind and push the erogenous zones in her brain past their breaking point? You'll have to read to find out...

Public sex? Do these things really happen? Like it's steamy as hell and it will have you become the squirmiest thing alive. Thankfully, I was in the comfort of my own home because it was an awkward as hell book.

But really? She was miserable and you just so happen to make her happy? Was it a one time thing? Of course, this was a short story so it only took a few minutes to read this book but I am definitely trying to knock some books off of my TBR list on my kindle to free up some space.

I rate this book a good 3.5 out of 5 stars. Maybe if the story was developed, we could have gotten up there.

Review: Holy mother of all 71 chapters. This book was lengthy as hell and I am sure that T.C. could have and should have stopped it somewhere after 30 chapters and started the sequel to this. It was a bit much to handle all at once and I was definitely confused as the chapters went by. I definitely had to go back and re-read every word because I wouldn't remember what the hell was going on.

Okay, first off. He repeatedly lies to the main character and she lets her lust get the best of her? Yeah, okay. He's hot. We get it. But a liar? I mean, everyone hates liars and she continuously goes for it. Jess... We get it. Your body has the tingles for him but if your mind says no, it should be no. There are those sayings where you should follow your heart but come on. Everyone should know by now that you should never wear your heart on your sleeve just as Jess had done.

As aforementioned, I figured that this book was just lengthy as hell and I don't need anymore than about 30 chapters to surmise that you guys are going round and round like a carousal. Needless to say, I was mindlessly flipping through the pages as fast as I could. My eyes skimmed the pages.

But really... 71 chapters for one book that told you one thing... Trust your damn instincts. Life lesson learned. I couldn't connect with Jess because of the fact that her mind would stray off and think about undressing Cole with her eyes or stray to her sister and then comes in a character named Emma. Who the hell is Emma? I still don't even know...

With the promise of action, adventure, and romance, I was intrigued to read this book. But I could honestly say that I wasn't impressed and had a hard time reading this. So I will go ahead and rate this book a 2 out of 5 stars.

Tangled Bond - Emma Hart (Holly Woods Files #2)

Published Date: July 30, 2015
Genre: Romance
Synopsis: One date with the sexier-than-sin Detective Drake Nash. Simple.

Until you take into account that my brother finally proposed to his girlfriend, so Nonna is on a warpath—and the crazy old bat has Cupid by the balls.

The upcoming mayoral elections has everyone running on full speed, and while I couldn’t give any less craps about the corrupt Holly Woods mayor’s office, a dead body in the middle of a campaign speech has me thrown right into the middle of it. The victim is close to the mayor, but all he cares about is minimizing the damage to his campaign, so he hires me to work alongside Drake to close the case as quickly as possible.

Bad news for our tentative relationship.

We disagree far more than we agree, but being at loggerheads won’t get this murder solved… Or deal with the arrival of someone from his past.
The mysteries behind the murder aren’t the only things unraveling, and despite being knee-deep in lies and corruption and bonds so tangled they’re almost indecipherable, I have to figure out if I’m willing to fight for Drake the way I do justice…
Or if he’ll be my one who gets away.

After I read the first book of Emma Hart in the Holly Woods Files series, I was thrilled to start the second. However, I wasn't as impressed as I should have been. If I am interested in a book, I will finish within a day flat. But I had to stop reading every now and then.

I felt bad for Noelle in this book because of a plot twist or should I say twists. I don't want any spoilers for this book because it wasn't god awful where I would never read again but I would come back to it if I was dying of boredom and the last book on Earth was this one.

Drake and Noelle's relationship deepens in this book and you can see that in reality, you just want that. I want Drake and Noelle's life to happen to me. It's thrilling. It's romantic. It's funny. Like come on, now. Please? With a cherry on top? Or maybe Drake Nash. LOL.

I think that I am liking the series so far but needless to say, I wasn't really impressed with this particular segment in Drake and Noelle's life.

Although they fight like no other, as Noona says, when you stop fighting, that's when you stop caring. Damn, Noona. That was deep and I think that is my life saying. Don't stop fighting with the ones you love. I mean, I definitely won't because that's how you show affection to them.

Okay, a new character or two, or three are introduced in this book and well, one of them will drive you insane as you think of her a some goblin hobbit looking Mrs. Robinson. She only sleeps her way to the top as some do. It's honestly sad that these books do portray a reality that is unseen.

I rate this book a solid 3 out of 5 stars.

Twisted Bond - Emma Hart (Holly Woods Files #1)

Published Date: June 11, 2015
Genre: Romance
Synopsis: I’m an Italian-Texan woman in a family full of cops. I’m passionate and shoot before I think. You only f*ck with me if you’re stupid.

Photograph cheating spouses. Hand over the evidence. Cash my check.
That was my plan when I returned home to Holly Woods, Texas, and became a private investigator.
Finding the dead body in my dumpster? Yeah… Given the choice, I think I would have opted out of that little discovery, especially since all three of my brothers are cops. And my Italian grandmother is sure the reason I’m single is because of my job.
Of course, my connection to the victim is entirely coincidental. Until I’m hired by her husband to investigate her murder and shoved bang-smack into the path of Detective Drake Nash. My nemesis, a persistent pain in my ass, and one hell of a sexy son of a bitch.
Shame he still holds a grudge from that time I shot him in the foot twelve years ago, or we could have something. In another life.
So now all I have to do is avoid my nonna’s blind dates, try not to blackmail my brothers into giving me confidential police files, and absolutely do not point my gun at Drake Nash. Or kiss him. Or jump his bones.
All while I hunt down the killer.
Sounds totally simple—until a second body proves that sometimes things that start as coincidences don’t always end up that way…

(Twisted Bond is book one of the Holly Woods Files series and while it does not end in a cliffhanger, it is not a standalone.)

Damn it all, Emma Hart. You just added onto my book boyfriends list with, not one, but FOUR new guys. Like are you kidding me? Just kidding. I love hoarding all of my book boyfriends because well, I fangirl over them all the damn time.

Experiencing Emma Hart for the first ever since meeting her through Facebook, I just cannot get enough of her. I mean, Noella, or as Noona calls her, Noelle-a, is a freaking badass when it comes to this. I mean she could shoot a bullseyes probably with her eyes closed. She's snarky and in all honesty, I could see myself in her because she is a people-hating person but she will help those in need. Not saying that I am saying I am these but she's smart, beautiful, funny, and passionate.

I've never lived a life through a PI and now that I have experienced it, I don't think that I could go back. I mean, she's the bearer of bad news and the way she describes how people take the news is hilarious. There are the few who accept the news, pay here and continue on their way. There are those in denial and it is hilarious when they scream and shout because they refuse to accept the fact the news is bad.

I kind of want to be in a room where a PI breaks the news because damn, it would be hilarious to see the latter of the aforementioned. Then boom, we are hit with Drake Nash and boy, he's every woman and man's dream. I mean, your clothes just kind off want to fall off when you imagine Drake Nash and him prowling towards you. Yeah... Just take a moment to imagine that. LOL.

Ovaries exploded.

Time to read Tangled Bond and get some more of Drake and Noelle because this book was a solid 4 out of 5 stars.

ARC: Tracing Hearts - Kate Squires

Published Date: November 30, 2015
Genre: New Adult
Synopsis: Paired together as childhood pen pals, Sebastian Vaughn and Julia Bessette grow up writing back and forth. Even though they live worlds apart, their lives intersect in ways that no one could ever imagine.
As young adults, their paths initially cross, when a concerned Sebastian pays heartbroken Julia a surprise visit. The two spend only a few short days together, but the spark is undeniable. However, tragedy comes in all forms, and soon they're separated.
Fast forward a few years, and fate finds Army Captain Vaughn in a dangerous situation, where he’s forced to go into hiding. Out of desperation and a primal need to be near her, he unintentionally drags Julia into his treacherous world. Feeling responsible, he vows to protect her above all else, but will the cost be too high?
Meanwhile, Julia willingly goes on the run with Sebastian, sacrificing her way of life, and her safety, for the man she hopes is the one. She worries about his rejection, but more so than that, she worries about never again feeling the way she feels when she’s with him.
Can the couple make it out alive? Can they find each other in the process, or will it all be too much to bear?

This is another one of Kate Squires book. I told you, I read her books and kind of fell in love with her. Her writing style makes it easy and the characters make it even better. Especially in this book. It starts off with a little prologue and internally, I was freaking out. I wanted to know what happened. Then it starts.

You kind of fell in love with this book because you're not getting a brief background on their childhood. You rather live through it with them. Sometimes, I wish my teachers were cool enough to get pen pals for us.

In all honesty, my childhood was really sucky when you compare it to Julia and Sebastian's. I loved their connection. Usually, it's hard to meet that kind of person. Damn, it was fate to meet each other and stay in each other's lives.

Do you believe in fate? Because after this book, I kind of do. Of course, this is a work of fiction but their love was deniable right from the beginning. I'm pretty sure I looked crazy in public as I would 'AWWWWW' every other page.

This is the kind of love that every kid dreams of. You know, that fairytale-type? I mean, don't go off marrying a person that you just met unless if you're trying to unite countries... LOL. Like we need to do that right now. In all honesty, the story behind this shows military romance challenges.

As my number one brother from another mother, best friend ever, is in the Marines, I can understand the constant worry about someone that you care about.
This is when he came the next day.
So this here, is a blog post shout out to my best friend and all the other troops that serve and protect.

I think that this is the best book to start 2016 off with. I hope to begin this new year with you and reign in some amazing people to continue to read my post.

This is a book that you rate a heavy 4.5 out of 5 stars. One of the sweetest love stories ever. So if you like the sappy stories, this is a book for you.

I Will Catch You - Kate Squires

Published Date: June 16, 2015
Genre: New Adult
Synopsis: From the author of That Kiss, and That Promise, comes another tale of romance and excitement!
Sydney Baxter likes her independence. She’s strong willed, determined, and well aware that her judgment, pertaining to men, cannot be trusted.
When she meets a very sexy Ryan Underwood, she instantly becomes mesmerized. Unable or unwilling to shake her fascination with him, she sets out on a course that could possibly leave her vulnerable…again.
From uncertainty, to volatile situations, many obstacles stand in the way of her road to happiness, but Sydney’s past is the biggest one.
Is Ryan’s seemingly nice-guy image genuine? Can she trust him, or will he leave her even more damaged? Despite their ups and downs, can Ryan show her he’s not like all the rest? **May contain triggers for some people**

You're immediately drawn into the book and this is a book that you cannot put down. I thought that I was going to stop at one of the chapters but I kept flipping through because you just love the strength of Sydney.

As you read this book, you slightly figure out what the hell is going on in this book but when the words finally tell you what the hell happened, it definitely triggered some of the most emotional feelings ever. Whether you cry easily or not, this book is definitely a must read. Though, I wouldn't recommend reading it before bed because:
1. You won't be able to put the book down.
2. You will probably cry your eyes out and look like a puff face when you wake up.

Are you kidding me? I can't even rate this book enough because of the fact that Sydney Baxter is one determined chick. She loves to dance and be with friends. There is no stopping this girl from living her life. Except one thing.

When you meet all obstacles, you want to just hug Sydney because of all that she went through. But when I think of the situations, I think of one guy like Thor and the other like some slug man. A guy in the book is utterly despicable and I have too be honest, I loved Sydney and Ryan's relationship. How it progressed and fell. Sydney's utter horror towards him. Her love. Her friendship. There were no bounds to keep them apart from each other.

Okay? Are you an animal lover because I am! This book centers animals as some of influential characters and strong centers in the books. Especially since some of the characters are veterinarians and damn, that's hot. An animal doctor? I mean, human doctors can be attractive too but whoooooo, how they describe Ryan is hot as hell.

Again, as the synopsis forewarned you all, this book may contain some triggers for people and I woke up with puffy eyes and face after reading this book. Needless to say, my best friend got mad at me for waking her up the next morning and started the conversation out with, 'I cried myself to sleep last night'. She thought something big happened -- Well, scratch that. Something big did happen. I found an author that I know that I can put on my TBR list for all of her books.

Her books contain plot twists and some happy endings but then again, I am only judging off of two books. Let's see where she will take me next.

I rate this book a solid 4.3 out of 5 stars. STOP MAKING ME CRY, KATE! I don't want to be an emotional wreck, thank you very much.

The Goddess Test - Aimee Carter (The Goddess Test #1)

Published Date: April 19, 2011
Genre: Young Adult
Synopsis: Every girl who had taken the test has died.
Now it's Kate's turn.
It's always been just Kate and her mom - and her mother is dying. Her last wish? To move back to her childhood home. So Kate's going to start at a new school with no friends, no other family and the fear that her mother won't live past the fall.
Then she meets Henry. Dark. Tortured. And mesmerizing. He claims to be Hades, god of the Underworld - and if she accepts his bargain, he'll keep her mother alive while Kate tries to pass seven tests.
Kate is sure he's crazy - until she sees him bring a girl back from the dead. Now saving her mother seems crazily possible. If she succeeds, she'll become Henry's future bride and a goddess.
If she fails...
I have to be honest. This book makes me fall in love with Young Adult books all over again. No matter how many years go by, Aimee Carter is definitely someone that I can appreciate for her amazing writing.
Kate Winters is the new girl of the school because she had isolated herself from her own life to take care of her mom. You got that from the synopsis right?
Dear Negative Readers, I saw people complaining their shits about this book and the historical inaccuracy. I'm sorry what? I thought this book was supposed to be a FANTASY NOVEL, not a HISTORY BOOK. Come you guys, this is just ridiculous and I am about to flip a table at how people are 'doing the research for her' or 'enlightening her'. Excuse me, what? AGAIN, THIS STUFF IS FANTASY. THIS IS HER WORK OF ART. I get it, some of you guys are history buffs and like the accuracy in it. Simply to say, this book is just not for you if you cannot handle the fact of enjoying a book for the entertainment purposes and how incredibly sweet this romance turns out to be, then this book isn't for you.

I read this way back in the transition from middle school to high school for me and I didn't really understand the negativity that authors go through. At least be a little constructive, not bash them down.
Don't get me wrong. I can definitely be a negative Nancy on some books but merely on the writing of it. Not the facts about it. Like are you kidding me? Go to freaking History class and learn the shit about this if it's really bugging you in a work of fiction.

Nobody likes ranters so I am ending this soon.
Hades and Persephone's story is merely a guy that kidnaps a girl and keeps her hostage, marries her, and runs away. Again, that is also a work of fiction. It's mythology. I hope that people understand that mythology changes as the days, weeks, months, years, decades, etc, etc, go by.
RANT OVER. Onto my review.
I loved this story just because it was a big breather on the whole take of mythology. This book was the start of my bookshelf and will forever be cherished.

This is where I fell in love with Aimee Carter and where it will continue to hold a place in my heart. I fell in love with Kate Winters because she wasn't some extraordinary girl that wanted to stand out in school. No, she wanted to get through until her mom leaves her life.

Again, this was a fresh take on Greek mythology, my favorite kind. I loved the fact who the antagonist was in the story and how the story of Hades and Persephone was portrayed. The links of everyone and it makes you think hard as hell, who is who. You can't look it up because that definitely takes the fun out of it.

People were complaining about the names and I want to just wave my hand and be like, "Bro. Chill. Story is a work of fiction."

Anyways, I loved how the romance develops and if you can't handle the idea of people fighting for each other, this story isn't for you. I rate this story a solid 4.5 out of 5.
