Rescued by Tordin - Mychal Daniels (Olodian Alien Warrior #1)

Published Date: September 9, 2015
Genre: Contemporary Romance/Sci-Fi
Synopsis: Curvy, intelligent and focused, Kyra Simmons has her eye on the prize. She’s locked her sights on becoming the top technical engineer for the most prestigious space program back on Earth. That is, until her life and plans are turned upside down in an instant on board a maintenance Space Station.

Stranded on the now failing Space station, Kyra needs a miracle to survive. She has no idea that the ‘foreign’ astronauts who show up to rescue her are out of this world—literally.

Warrior Lord Tordin, Crown Prince of Olodia, knows he’s outside of the Mandates of the Intergalactic Alliance when he intercedes to rescue the survivors of the Earth space station. But there’s something or someone pulling him in.

He’s not prepared for what he finds in the unassuming Earth female. Try as he might to stay away, the pull grows stronger and stronger to be with her. His mission depends on his ability to stay focused and be prepared, but that’s almost impossible with Kyra in his thoughts and dreams.

On the alien mother ship speeding away from Earth forever, Kyra’s biggest problem is not getting back to Earth; it’s how not to fall for this alien Warrior Lord whose the actual man of her dreams.

Can she find a way to realize her dreams of power and recognition now that she’s been rescued by Tordin?

Oh my alien babies, this book literally could not force me to put this book down. I was giggling throughout the entire thing and honestly, it was one of the cutest things ever. As a woman with self-esteem issues, I related fairly well with Kyra. She didn't feel beautiful especially compared to her best friend, Phoebe. I feel that every day that I am with my friends.

In all honesty, Tordin is a weird name but of course he is an alien/god/thingimajig and so it's acceptable. At least to me. At first, I thought there was a spelling mistake for his brother Cordin. Tordin and Cordin. Too similar names but they couldn't be any different.

From the beginning, Mychal Daniels tells us to watch out for Brantley because he is the biggest sleaze bag ever and thinks that he can get away with everything. I thought that if you were an astronaut, you had to be at least bit brilliant but I never got that vibe from Brantley but who knows his story. He is a little cuckoo from what I gather.

I want to focus on Kyra and Tordin because of their unspeakable connection to each other. Each from different galaxies. From different worlds. Smashed together through fate. The Goddess has played her strings and now, it is up to them to make their relationship work. Obviously, it did and it was hot.

There are no other words to say about this book other than the fact that I may become obsessed with aliens if this is the fact. I am going to go ahead and rate this book a solid 4 out of 5 stars. I think that this book series has a lot of potential and I really want to read the second book from Phoebe's perspective because of what happened to her in the first.

Naughty King - Michelle A Valentine

Published Date: March 14, 2015
Genre: New Adult
Synopsis: The King Always Gets His Way.
Women, business, pleasure: When I want it, I get it.
I’m never denied.
Including her.
I will break her.
I will show her who the king of this city really is.
The Feisty Princess of Manhattan will learn I am not a man that can be tempted.
No matter how fucking bad I want her in my bed.

Book one in a three part erotic romance series. Super naughty new series From NY Times and USA Today bestselling author Michelle A. Valentine (Rock the Heart, Phenomenal X, Demon at My Door)

By far, one of the shortest books that I have read but one of the most graphic ones ever. I don't know exactly how I feel about this book other than the fact that I rolled my eyes at stereotypical representations of people but I definitely want to see where part two leads me. I think that if you want an Alpha male, you will get that in this book and well, it's just a hot book. It is always awkward reading about family or friends or just in public when your face turns red because you had no idea that those things could happen. Now personally, I think that Alexander King is crude and merciless but he is brought to his knees when Margo Buchanan comes into his life and throws it in for a turmoil.

I mean, let's be honest. I am Asian and although I laughed at how Yamada butchered his words but it is honestly so stereotypical. But the ending really got me. I laughed so hard and do you understand how embarrassing that is to do in my class while the professor is lecturing? Not really what I needed and I had a feeling I should have saved this book for my my own accord in the comfort of my beanbag chair and secluded from the world.

Also, I guess that brings to my attention that I just recently acquired a second job so the posts will be coming even fewer until I can get myself some alone time which will be on my breaks.

The King always gets what he wants and I don't know whether it was the beginning or the middle of the book but really... Really? A playroom inside a hotel? Like what? Does this stuff really go on inside hotels? I've been to several and never really got the vibe from that. I MEAN SEVERAL HOTELS, YOU DIRTY FREAKS. Just kidding, I love you all.

I mean, I really want to see where this leads Margo and Alex but then again, do I want to be even more squeamish?

Yeah, not feeling it.

We will go ahead and rate this book a 3.2 out of 5 stars.

ARC: The Forbidden Muse - Aubrey Parker (Inferno Fall #2)

ARC received from author in exchange for honest review
Published Date: November 10, 2015
Genre: Young Adult/Contemporary Romance
Synopsis: Gavin might just be the music that Abigail yearns for … if only his painful past will allow him to love again.

Just a few months after arriving at Inferno Falls, Abigail can’t see the light at the end of her tunnel. No one can complain about being overworked and broke when the rest of the country’s the same way, but that doesn’t make it any easier when Abigail has to live the story every day. It’s not the work or the meager lifestyle she minds. Abigail wants something more…something inspired…something raw.

Gavin is a grieving musician trying to re-find his inspiration. He’s mourning a crushing loss, and life has become too mundane, too typical, to give him the material for songs that used to come so easy. What could he expect to find in Inferno Falls that would truly stir his heart? After all, he’s been shattered by love too many times to find any comfort in a woman’s arms.

The song begins…

Strings play the moment they meet in Abigail’s section of the Nosh Pit, Inferno Falls’ latest and hippest restaurant, and their pulses thunder like a drumbeat from the moment their eyes touch. Abigail feels a stirring in her heart she never expected, while Gavin goes home to pour his inspiration into music.

But despite their obvious harmony, Gavin’s past won’t let anyone get too close. And after years of heartache, Abigail doesn’t have time for anyone who seems like they’re just playing around. Together they’ll have to learn to sing in chorus, or let the stage lights fade and bow out of each other’s lives for good.

Gavin and Abigail both have a chapter that they don't want to read from their lives. But let's be honest, everyone has a story that they don't want to read to anyone. They skirt around each other and never really met until Abby picks up another shift at her second job. There she meets the mysterious Gavin and they clique. I mean, everyone who has worked in a restaurant as a waitress/waiter have the most patience that I've seen.

Who here has suffered through someone saying 'Choose for me' or 'I don't want this, this, or this'. Like come on. Anyways, let's get down to the nitty gritty. Gavin lost two of the most important people in his life and he just doesn't want to open up anymore. Abigail has run away from home and well she's got some past where if anyone experiences it, they question everything and become anxious about the most simplest situations. She was cheated on and cut off from her parents. Working two jobs is no joke so I give Abby lots of props for doing so.

Okay, I had some really good quotes but of course, it got deleted. It made me want to cry. I wanted to cry in this book and that doesn't happen for me. When I read these books again, I will want to give you these quotes. But for now, let's just say that you will want to read this book.

I FOUND THEM!

"The first verse tells the story of a boy and a girl who fall in love. Who meet tragedy. And how much it hurts...The second verse tells how the boy's world ends along with the girl's. How he tries to face the world and can't. How it's all pointless. How every day is another floor on an endless downward spiral...The third verse is about a new girl. A new love. And about moving on, sweet on the tongue to soften the bitter."

After Brandon and Riley's story, I was kind of skeptical to say the least to continue the story but Aubrey Parker has so much potential and so when I read Gavin and Abigail's story, my heart just wrung out. It writhed. It hurts. Maybe because it hit so close to home.

This is the story of a girl. This is the story of a boy. This has tragedy. This has romance. It's new beginnings. It's old problems. But I loved it nonetheless.

I rate The Forbidden Muse a 4 out of 5 stars and hope to read The Second Chance, the third book in her series.

Blog you later, awesome book nerds. I will be back tomorrow with The Naughty King - Michelle A Valentine.

Awake in a Sweet Unrest - Rowena Tisdale

Published Date: August 31, 2015
Genre: Erotic Fiction
Synopsis: Beautiful, single mother Sara Broussard finds herself torn between her love for two men. Eric Leland, the sexy journalist who offers her everything - love, stability, and a future. Nathan Remington, a ruthless politician who offers nothing, but awakens in Sara a primitive passion that only he can satisfy. Set against the backdrop of a corrupt city, Sara learns harsh lessons about love and lust as she is swept up in a journey of emotion and self discovery. Hot guys, steamy sex, and a story that will leave you panting for more!

Hot guys, check. Steamy sex, check. Leave me panting? Blank.

Yeah, it takes place in a corrupt city and you don't know how corrupt it is until Sara meets Nathan. But first off, I would like to say that even though it is reiterated within the book that Sara isn't a whore... I just cannot see how she isn't after Eric and her are over.

Her and Eric were the sweet, loving type. Of course, I'm all for them. By part two in the book, I'm just annoyed with Sara... I'm sorry to say that but she's just really, really, really slutty... I mean, her boyfriend was late for two hours and you immediately hook up with a guy? Like come on now... I'm not a fan of that at all.  HER BOYFRIEND WAS LATE TO A GATHERING AND SHE STRAYS!

Would a person really do that if there was an opportunity like that? It just seems highly unlikely but as I am healing from a broken heart of a similar scenario, I can see that.

Now I think that this book started off really well. It had me going 'AWWW' in my head until part deux. That's French for two. ;) But honestly, I understand that she's lonely but she had Eric and honestly, I thought that was satisfying enough. She had her son. Her best friend. It wasn't like she was a hermit.

In all honestly, I think that I am going to rate this book a 3 out of 5 stars unless if she realizes that she made a mistake running away from Eric in a sequel.

The formatting was also another reasoning why this book was not so high on my list. At first, I thought that the first part was in Eric's POV, the second in Nathan's, and lastly, in Sara's. But it was all in Sara's POV but there were points where I got confused because suddenly it would be in Gab's POV but technically Sara's which was completely confusing because it would give thoughts of other people and even when Sara was turned away or not looking. It was just a bit strange is all...

The book does end with a bit of a cliffhanger so hopefully there is something in the future that clears everything up and make me rate it higher. I see a lot of potential for Rowena Tisdale in the future and I look forward to reading some more of her things if she decides to make more.

Anyways, blog you later, awesome book nerds and I will be back with The Forbidden Muse - Aubrey Parker.

ARC: Daron's Guitar Chronicles - Cecilia Tan (DGC #8)

ARC was given to me by publisher in exchange for an honest review

Published Date: November 10, 2015
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Synopsis: The year is 1990 and Daron Marks is trying to stay true to his heart.

But life is tough when you're a talented musician whose life is controlled by gigantic mega-corporations. Daron is trying hard not to think about that, though, when he invites Ziggy to spend Christmas with Daron's chosen family: his mentor Remo and the guys from the band Nomad. Ziggy's career is taking off at rocket speed; meanwhile Daron spends a few months living in New York City working with one of the music industry's hottest producers and then takes a gig to hit the road with Nomad. Even with the industry pulling them in different directions, Daron and Ziggy's paths keep crossing. Can they rebuild a relationship without music tying them together? And what is that mysterious song Daron keeps hearing on the radio?

Volume 8 cover chapters 585 through 636 of the online web serial.

Honestly, when I first started this book, I was confused. I mean, I was reading the fucking eighth book in the series when I've never read #1-7. You know, that is really sucky. I hate when I do that to myself because it makes me think more than I want to when i just want enjoy a new author.

So this is what I figured out. I figured that Daron is one sarcastically talented guy and to admit with all of my heart, I did fall in love with him as person. He's snarky. He's sweet. He's smart. All he ever wants is to be with Ziggy but unfortunately, the record label and someone very close to him just won't allow it. They think they create a negative influence on each other when they are together.

This book was not overly graphic and for that, I can be grateful for that. Even the slight mention of sex makes my face tomato red and I just don't need that in public. Anyways, I am going to give this book a solid 4 out of 5 stars because if you're reading this as a stand-alone, you'll be able to catch along pretty fast but you'll question everything.

It was definitely something new and different for me because although M/M relationships are usually tabooed, absent, or minor, this book brings it up to a new level of knowledge. It makes it more pronounced than M/F relationships yet they are not absent just minor. In this book series, I'm guessing, you'll see more minor sexual identities to become more pronounced.

In this book, you follow Daron Marks and his inner thoughts. It's almost like invading his personal thoughts and I thought that was slightly awkward but I just ate it right up. You can see how he questions himself with his self-doubts and angst. You follow him as to how he felt about people and honestly, Cecilia's words through Daron's mind and mouth made my heart melt because it shows that people do think like this on a daily basis because they overthink things and it shows that I am not the only one that freaks out over this internally until I can find some kind of outlet.

Would I go back and read the first seven...? Absolutely. Plus it would just drive me insane that I didn't read them now. I think that I want to go back to the 80s and meet these characters. Can I just leave reality now? Thanks.

Here is a little more information that you may want to know about the author, book i.e. places that you can get the book, and a fun little excerpt to get you excited!

Cecilia Tan
Daron's Guitar Chronicles: Volume 8
November 10, 2015
Blurb
Sex, drugs, and rock and roll. Coming out and coming of age in the days of AIDS, MTV, Reaganomics, and Just Say No.  Winner of the Rose and Bay Award for Crowdfunded Fiction!
Daron Marks is a young guitar player with a dream, make it big like the guys he grew up idolizing in New Jersey--or at least escape his dysfunctional family. He makes it as far as music school in Rhode Island, and the rock clubs of Boston beckon him. But it's hard to succeed from the closet.  A story of how finding one's self is key to finding love, and loving one's self is key to loving another.
Excerpt:
In this excerpt, Daron's in a hotel in New York City. It's Christmas time, and Daron knows Ziggy's in New York, too. They had a brief encounter the night before and Ziggy slipped his pager number into Daron's pocket. It's almost six in the morning and Daron's been awake all night when he gives in and pages Ziggy:

The phone rang gratifyingly quickly. "Hey. I guess you're not sleeping either."
"I'm on West Coast time," Ziggy said. "Where it's only three in the morning."
"Uh huh," I said, unconvinced.
We sat there in uncomfortable silence for a few minutes. I was the one who had paged him, so was it on me to say something? But he was the one who put the "call me" message into my pocket, so....
"Maybe we should get together to talk," I finally said.
"Can you get away from your family?" he asked.
"For a couple of hours, no one'll miss me," I said. "But I wanted to ask what you're doing for the holiday tonight. Tomorrow. No pressure, but you could join us here."
"Daron, how should I put this..." He breathed, and I imagined him sighing with his eyes closed. "Your group there is kind of overwhelming. I'm not good with crowds."
"I never thought I'd hear you say that."
"You know what I mean."
"Actually, I don't. Explain it? I'm listening." I lay back to listen.
"I mean, I'm fine with crowds if I'm the center of attention. But I don't want to be—and shouldn't be—the center of attention at your chosen family's gathering."
"Why shouldn't you be? You outshine everyone in any room you walk into." This room felt like it was spinning slightly. I had definitely drunk more than usual.
"Like there's a spotlight on me?"
"Like you're a star that fell out of heaven. Ziggy, you're the most gorgeous human being I've ever laid eyes on, and that's as true today as it was that day in the park."
"You're drunk."
"I'm telling the truth."
"Because you're drunk."
"Because I've been to therapy. And I've realized there are a lot of things I could have been saying that I haven't been." I thought about what Bart had said, that maybe me being forthright and truthful about my feelings was actually scary to Ziggy. If so, I was probably freaking him out completely right now. "Am I freaking you out? I'm not trying to. I just... have this thing about the truth."
"Uh huh," he said cautiously. "And if the truth is... it's too late?"
"Then tell me to go fuck myself: break my heart and send me on my fucking way."
"Whoa. Whoa." There was a kind of long silence while I guess he tried to figure out what to say to that. Or got himself together. I don't know which. "I didn't mean it like that."
"It's worth asking, isn't it? Is it too late, Zig?" It felt crazy-good that I could send him spinning by speaking so baldly. Of course, the only reason it didn't hurt like fuck to say was because alcohol had numbed me so much at that point. "Did I wait too long to tell you I loved you? Is it just fucking tragic when I say it?"
"Okay, you know what? I want to make a rule. No saying 'I love you' over the phone."
"You don't want me to tell you I love you?"
"On the phone. Seriously. I'm coming over there and then you can say it to my face."

ARC: Whiteout - Nikki Jefford (Aurora Sky: Vampire Hunter #5)

Published Date: October 27, 2015
Genre: Paranormal
Synopsis: Life on the run is no winter picnic, especially when Aurora’s partner sees himself as the sheriff, not the outlaw.
It’s a cat and mouse game across the Last Frontier with agents and vampires out for revenge.
Aurora has never fought so hard to stay alive, even as each day takes her further away from Fane. Will they ever be reunited? Or is Aurora destined to remain in Alaska with Dante forever?

Let's be honest... I've been missing out with Nikki Jefford and it is time to go back and read all four book before these because obviously, vampires are coming back into season. I suck so bad because I was asked to do an ARC review of this and unfortunately I wasn't able to get to it until now. But now that I have finished, I am loving the idea of it.

First things, would this even be considered an ARC because I am so far behind from the date? Well, needless to say, I did the whole thing again where I skip all of the books ahead and completely race ahead to the newest book. Let's just say, that I have problems like that. But I am flying through Whiteout and now I just want to read all four previous books because that's how much I really like these series.

Aurora is snarky and a powerful heroine. But she obviously has some major problems. She was meant to be a hunter but unfortunately, she has become immortal.

Even if you do not read the first four installments of the series, you can definitely figure some stuff out. I definitely this could be a stand-alone but then again, you never knew where each of the relationships came into place.

This book switches off every now and then between Aurora and Fane. Aurora races to get away from the agency while Fane races after her to get to his one and only love. Now do I personally think this book is completely cheesy? Hell yeah, I do. Minus the werewolves, this is Twilight.

Everyone has their own version on vampires. Do they sparkle? Burn? Dust? But in this book, a single wound that could kill a human could kill a vampire. For example, a gunshot wound. But they do have the advantage of healing if they drink blood.

In the middle of the book, Aurora and Dante release their sexual tension and you just want to smack Aurora for being a tease but Dante for being such an arrogant prick. Excuse my language but come on. Aurora flaunts around and all she wants is Fane and yet Dante pursues her to give him a hard time.

Whatever his name is, Jared or whatever, he just sounds like a  creepy freak and wants to only recruit female vampires. To me, he just gives me the heebie jeebies. Put yourself in Aurora's shoes and get to the scene between her and Jared. Like I shivered. Those chills though.

You're in for a thrill. Read this book and the rest of the series ;)

I am going to give this book a solid 4.5 out of 5 stars and well, let's just say that I am genuinely pleased with the book overall because I'm not a vampire fan. I'm more of a shifter fan. ;)

Blog you later, awesome book nerds and catch my review release tomorrow for Daron's Guitar Chronicles #8 - Cecilia Tan.

Raiders of the Lost Ark (Movie Review)

Released Date: June 1, 1981
Genre: Action/Adventure
Synopsis:
Renowned archeologist and expert in the occult, Dr. Indiana Jones, is hired by the U.S. Government to find the Ark of the Covenant, which is believed to still hold the ten commandments. Unfortunately, agents of Hitler are also after the Ark. Indy, and his ex-flame Marion, escape from various close scrapes in a quest that takes them from Nepal to Cairo.

I figured out the ability to time travel because I went back into time and saw this movie when it first came out... ;) Just kidding. Thankfully, more and more theaters are realizing that current movies make you want to gag of the awfulness and although that I almost fell asleep in this movie, it was only because of my lack of energy, sleep deprivation, and of course, school. Although, I am moving ahead in my work so that I can spend more time with you guys.

Honestly, this movie was either really hilarious or I was slap happy and everything was just hilarious. Thankfully, my friends understand that I am just not type to handle no sleep. I cannot pull an all-nighter because I will bite someone's head off and usually the wrong person, too.

Now personally, I think Indiana Jones is a very attractive actor and he knows how to make me laugh with the stupidest things. You can consider this movie very stupid but if you don't like these movies, get out. Get out now. Just kidding. I love you, my beautiful readers.

The theme music is absolutely hilarious and I wish I could sing or hum so that I could walk around campus just belting it out. But that doesn't stop me from inside my house.

At first, I thought that I would enjoy having Marian as the heroine but she is honestly male-dependent. At first, she seems very strong and doesn't need a man to save her nor does she listen to them but as soon as Jones comes into the picture, she melts at the knees. I mean, don't get me wrong, I would have too.

Here comes to the rating... Drumroll please.

3.8 out of 5 stars!

Old movies are usually not my thing so understand that this is a pretty big deal for me. I am actually surprised that I enjoyed it but I am so glad that my closest movie theatre held this in theaters.

Alright, I will blog you later, awesome nerds!

The Perrons and their five daughters have recently moved into a secluded farmhouse, where a supernatural presence has made itself known. Though the manifestations are relatively benign at first, events soon escalate in horrifying fashion, especially after the Warrens discover the house's macabre history.

Damn... This movie was so intense that my heart dropped in my stomach every single time that I watch this movie. Thankfully, it was with family members who like to joke about malevolent spirits and just dreadful stuff so we could never take this seriously.

But even after you turn the lights on for The Conjuring, it will have you haunted by the images that played on the screen. Since this was my second time watching the movie, I knew when to scare the shit out of everyone because in regards to the fun of Halloween.

Scary movies with the family is impossible to turn down and if you ever meet us, well, you will be changed forever. Just kidding. My family isn't that bad.

Anyways, this movie was actually quite terrifying and it's not because of what happens in the movie, although heart-dropping, but the story of Ed and Lorraine. Their family encounters some of the most horrific things and sadly, as does their daughter. As a kid, anything like this would be traumatizing to watch the ending of The Conjuring would make me not want to hug or kiss my mother after what I had seen.

Another thing is that the actual history of this house makes me jump in my skin every single time. If you do your history on the background story of this movie, it definitely will having you watching your back as you feel someone watching you or just question everything.

I am going to rate this book a solid 5 out of 5 stars. I would rate it higher but that's impossible. I think that this movie is a must-watch especially if you are a horror movie buff. I can't live through scary moments but I can handle a few scary movies, here and there.
