Dear Laren - Melissa Renee (Back to Us #1)

Published Date: December 12, 2015
Genre: Romance
Synopsis: What happens when the person you thought you would spend the rest of your life with gives that future to another?

For Laren Thompson, when Macen Turner walked away from her after graduation, her life was never the same. Now, ten years later, she is back in her hometown to help at her father's practice after he suffers from a heart attack. She is bringing with her a PhD in Pediatrics, and the baggage of an ex-fiancé.

She quickly discovers Macen has moved on and started the life she thought they would one day have together.

For Macen, walking away was one of the hardest things he ever had to do, and seeing Laren again after all this time ahs only shown him that he never quite got over his high school sweetheart.

PLEASE LET ME BE NICE TO THIS STORY. I love Melissa as a person and I don't think that this was necessarily a bad book in general but there wee bad parts to it. To name a few:

1. I had no background knowledge of the characters. Who they were, where they came from, what their stories was until they met back up
2. It was the insta-love situation. I know they had a past and all but I still consider it an insta-love thing. Maybe a sense of second chances?
3. There is also the fact that there were areas that didn't need to be in the book at all. I would have been perfectly fine without them.

But hey, like I said, this book wasn't awful. In fact, I 'AWW'ed several times through the book and thought the antagonist was creepy as hell and it the book emanated alpha-male from Macen. But again, it is a story of where an alpha male is ultimately putty in the female's hands.

The story makes a turn for the worst but I kind of liked how twisted this book was. So the rating is a 3.8 out of 5 stars.

Blog you later, awesome book nerds.
