Miss Mechanic - Emma Hart (Review)

Published Date: December 12, 2017
Genre: Romance
Synopsis: “Don’t let the bastards get you down.”
For twenty-six years, I lived by my daddy’s motto. Which is why “Mechanic Wanted” is all it takes for me to apply for the job at the garage we once owned.
And I meet the biggest bastard of them all.
Dexter Ryne. Hotter than Hell in July and a firm believer that my place is on reception, taking phone calls and looking pretty. Not getting dirty under the hood of a car.
Determined to prove each other wrong, we make a deal.
I have three weeks to prove my worth as a mechanic. If I don’t, I’m on telephone duty.
If I do, he’ll accept defeat and make my job permanent.
Now, all I have to do is fight my attraction to the cocky little… beep.
Problem is, an engine isn’t the only thing he knows how to make purr…

MISS MECHANIC, a standalone romantic comedy from New York Times bestseller, Emma Hart.

Oh hey, girl, heyyyy.

I loved Jaimie and I want her to be my new best friend. Right along with Noelle. While this book was super centered on the sexy, it was still pretty sexy. The smut, the sex, and the sass. What more can you ask for out of a book?

Nothing?

That's what I thought.

That is why you should one-click this book whether it is paperback or kindle because hello, gender flip. Emma Hart and her awesome idea of putting women in men's positions is amazing. Like five stars amazing. Jaimie is sassy and I absolutely love the fact that I can be a part of her journey. Even for a few pages worth.

Miss Mechanic will be your next favorite gender flip.

What does Hart have planned next? Who knows but what I do know is that it will be great.

Throw that wrench at me so that I can see five stars forever.

Unknown series - Wendy Higgins

Published Date: August 8, 2016
Genre: Paranormal/New Adult
Synopsis: Amber Tate believes the worst thing she’ll suffer in life is dealing with the unrequited love she feels for her brother’s best friend, Rylen Fite. She also believes war is something unfortunate that happens places far, far away from her rural Nevada town. She’s wrong on both counts.

When an unknown organization meticulously bombs major cities in the United States and across the globe, a trickle-down effect spreads to remaining towns at an alarming speed—everything from food and water sources to technology and communications are compromised. Without leadership, the nation is split between paralysis and panic, but Amber isn’t one to hide or watch helplessly. She’s determined to put her nursing skills to use, despite the danger, even if it means working alongside the man she can never have.

In this first installment of NY Times bestselling author, Wendy Higgins’s debut New Adult series, a frighteningly realistic apocalyptic America is brought to life, entwined with searing romantic tension that will leave you eager for more.

Published Date: February 9, 2017
Genre: Paranormal/New Adult
Synopsis: Being on the run in the desert means food and sanctuary are hard to come by, but Amber Tate and her crew are not about to give up. Not after having so many of the things they love brutally ripped from them by an unknown enemy who sent their world into the apocalypse.

Survival takes precedence, but once safe shelter is found, their guards fall and the emotions they’ve been holding in are finally released. Anger, insecurities...lust. In their tight quarters, Amber, Rylen, Tater, and Remy can't escape it. The past must be faced, and passions run even stronger in the darkest of times.

In the midst of unrest, their worlds are rocked again when they discover the truth about the war that’s ruined their lives. They thought finding out the enemy's identity would give them the edge; instead it’s revealed terrifying dangers they never thought possible.

Published Date: December 5, 2017
Genre: Paranormal/New Adult
Synopsis: USA Today and New York Times bestselling author, Wendy Higgins, brings you the gripping, sensual conclusion to her apocalyptic trilogy.

Amber Tate never dreamed their heart-wrenching escape from the enemy’s attack would lead them to the most beautiful place she’s ever seen, marred by one ugly fact; it’s under enemy control. Like everywhere else in the world, Elmendorf military base in Alaska has been captured, and it’s time to take it back—all of it—one base, one city at a time. After losing so much, Amber clings to the only precious person she has left and vows to sacrifice everything to help save the Earth.

Remy Haines is a lover, not a fighter, so when she finds herself in enemy territory, expected to feign allegiance while gathering intel for the rebel cause, she’s never been more out of her element. Tensions only increase when her feelings for Jacob “Tater” Tate won’t go away, and the enemy’s leader takes an interest in her. She’s torn between what her heart wants, and what she knows she should do. As for what her body needs…well, it’s always had a mind of its own.

Anything Wendy Higgins makes me fall in love with books again. Which is why when I got offered the opportunity to read her newest series, Unknown, I took it.

I am so glad I took the chance because Amber Tate (Pepper) and Rylen Fite are my new favorite book couple... Granted my favorite book couples is probably a hundred by now. I feel as though I grew up right next to Amber, Remy, Rylen, and Tater. They have wormed their way into my hearts just as the aliens did.

Conspiracy theories should not be theories. I believe in them and so that means they shouldn't be considered theories. I loved the series because they brought to life the Paranormal world I wished existed. Minus the creepy characters and the aliens. But I kind of fell in love with one of the aliens as what they did was just pure sexy.

That should feel so wrong but it doesn't.

Thank the heavens for Wendy Higgins for bringing to life some of the sexiest books yet making it seem so wrong to think that. I love her books and if you are a paranormal fan as I am with a few hints of romance, this is the series for you to try.

Trust me on this and you won't regret it.

Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children (Movie Review)

Release Date: September 30, 2016
Genre: Fantasy
Synopsis: When his beloved grandfather leaves Jake clues to a mystery that spans different worlds and times, he finds a magical place known as Miss Peregrine's School for Peculiar Children. But the mystery and danger deepen as he gets to know the residents and learns about their special powers - and their terrifying enemies. Ultimately, Jake discovers that only his own special peculiarity can save his new friends. Based on the novel "Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children," written by Ransom Riggs.

I seriously enjoyed this movie and it definitely has been such a long time since I have seen such a wonderfully created movie especially from the book rendition. Although I haven't read the books, I think that I just might after this movie.

Stay Peculiar.

No problem on that end.

This movie really did it for and it has ruined me for other movies. I haven't watched any after this. Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children will have you laughing, crying, and on your toes. Being Peculiar is probably one of the best things in the world because I want to join this life of going through portals and time.

5 out of 5 stars for this peculiar movie.

You’re the man of my dreams, Paxton Vance. You just don’t know it yet.

But don’t worry, I’ll remind you. I’m here to give you everything you need, before you know you need it.

ARC: Almost Wrong - Aubrey Parker

Published Date: October 11, 2016
Genre: Romance
Synopsis: I’ve always hated Hunter Altman.
I hated him at first sight, in my teens, when my mother met his worthless father.
I hated when Bill moved in with us, dragging Hunter like bad baggage.
I hated when Mom and Bill made it official, turning the delinquent a-hole in the next room into my brand-new stepbrother.
I hated when I fell for Hunter, and Hunter fell for me.
It killed me when he left us behind, shed like dead skin on his way to the top. And now that Hunter is a hotshot music producer on every magazine cover, I hate him even more.
I hate his money. I hate his fancy toys. I hate that he thinks he owns me … or worse, that he OWES me.
I hate that he’s back. That he’s soiled our ghetto with his pristine suit, his fancy black limousine.
My heart hurts, I hate him so much. And it scares me that my heart might keep loving him in the end, beneath it all.

HAPPY EFFING BIRTHDAY TO AUBREY PARKER AND HIS NEW RELEASE! I knew I was going to fall in love with Hunter's charismatic ways. It was kind of impossible not too. HUNTER ALTMAN is definitely up there for my book boyfriend ways and I am just not caring for anyone else in the world. Angela is one of the most surprising characters that I have met.

This story took a turn for the better? I liked the concept behind this. Rags to riches. Most trillionaire men are like that and it just makes them that much hotter. Like damn, Mr. Parker. GIVE ME MORE MEN THAT I WILL FLOVE.

5, 5, 5 stars out of 5. Almost Wrong will blow your minds.

ARC: Refused to Reign - Constance Phillips

Published Date: October 5, 2016
Genre: Paranormal
Synopsis: After his father’s death, Reider relinquished reign of the wolf pack to his brother Geoff, leaving everything—including Sable—behind, but refused to let go of the one thing his father ever gave him: the amulet that symbolized leadership. Six months later, Geoff is missing and the Conclave has called him to the Hotel Paranormal. They want him to take control of the Great Basin pack or hand over the amulet reserved for the alpha of the Great Basin Pack. Reider quickly learns the amulet is coveted by many.
Can Reider unravel the mystery and find his brother or will he submit to Sable and the Conclave and reclaim his reign.
To be honest, this book was not up my alley. Constance phillips has a lot of potential as a writer but this book did not do justice for her work.
Reider was to take his father's role of the wolf pack leader as he lay upon the death bed but not wanting the commitment, he leaves the pack in his little brother's hands and leaves the girl that stole his heart.
Like I said, I am not a huge fan of this book and I definitely did not finish it but we will leave it at a 3 out of 5 stars.
Constance Phillips Bio:
Constance Phillips lives in Ohio with her husband, daughter, and four canine kids where she writes contemporary romance novels and paranormal romance novels.
When not writing stories of finding and rediscovering love, Constance and her husband spend the hours planning a cross-country motorcycle trip for the not-so-distant future…if they can find a sidecar big enough for the pups.

SRSLY THOUGH. This book made me fall in love with Ivy and Ren all over again. HOW COULD I FORGET TINK. Like dude. DUDE.

You need to read this current duo soon to be trilogy and just fall in love with it.

IT TAKES SO LONG FOR NEXT YEAR TO COME AROUND. LIKE. Okay, I don't mean to yell but it's hard not too. Like Torn was such a pretty book and damn, I want it so, so, so bad. By want it, I mean a signed edition from Jennifer L. Armentrout because hey, she's an amazing person and so adorable.

You have to meet her too.

Get to know the families of Blueberry Lane!

*All books in The Blueberry Lane Series can be enjoyed as standalone novels.*

Excerpt:
She stood on the sidewalk facing him, a sweet smile on her lips.
Cort gestured to his front door with a flick of his chin. “Want to come in?”
“Yes. But we have to talk first.”
“What happened to ‘Take me to bed’?”
She sighed. “Fresh air cleared my head.”
He glanced down at his swollen cock, all but bursting against the zipper of his jeans. “I’m dying a little here, baby.”
Her eyes followed his, dancing with mirth when she looked back up at him. “So I see.”
“I’m not alone either,” he said, dropping his eyes to her nipples, which strained against her thin, billowy blouse.
“No,” she said, her voice slightly lower, her smile giving way to a hotter, more needy look. “You’re not.”
“So let’s talk inside.”
She shook her head no. “Here.”
Cort sighed, hitching her flowered bag a little higher on his shoulder, waiting for her to continue.
“No talking about Jax or Thatcher,” she said. “If you talk about Jax, I won’t be able to stay. I’ll feel too guilty. And if you talk about Thatcher, I’ll feel too angry. Promise?”
“I promise.”
She took a step closer to him. “And this one’s big…No falling in love with each other. We’re just about impossible, you and me, so we can’t—you know—bring that sort of emotion into this. We can enjoy each other, but that’s all, Cort. Promise.”
He flinched as she finished. He could feel the involuntary muscle reaction that narrowed his eyes and told him that it was too late. It was a lifetime too late to tell him not to love her, because he’d loved her for most of his life. Her gentleness, her quiet grace, the peace he’d always found in her presence now combined with the scorching chemistry between them that couldn’t be denied. Over and over again throughout his life, he’d looked for her, tried to find someone like her, but his heart had fixed on hers so long ago, it was all but impossible for him not to love her. The only way he could promise her was to promise not to “fall” this weekend, only because he’d already fallen years before.
“I promise not to fall.”
She smiled at him, though the smile had lost a bit of the lightheartedness it had held minutes earlier. “Do you need any promises from me?”
He nodded, closing the distance between them. “Yeah, I do.”
Her eyes widened, flaring with heat, the black of her pupils obliterating the green of her irises as she pressed her breasts against his chest.
“Promise to leave nothing on the table, Mad. Give me everything you’ve got for twenty-four hours.”
“Except…” Her voice broke. “Except my love. I promise.”
His heart clenched at her omission, and it made him want to push her out of her comfort zone a little. “Promise to touch me everywhere with your hot little mouth.”
“I promise,” she murmured, her throat moving as she swallowed.
His eyes narrowed. “Promise to open your legs so I can slide inside of you as if I’ve been doing it all my life.”
“Cort,” she whimpered, her eyes fluttering closed as she looked down at where her chest heaved into his. “I need you.”

ARC: How to Catch An Heiress - Natalie Rios

Published Date: October 3, 2016
Genre: Romance
Synopsis: Anthony Carter has not had it easy in life. In a matter of months, he lost his mother to cancer along with his much coveted spot in a prestigious doctoral program. Swimming in debt, he's been forced to move back to his hometown in rural Montana and take whatever job he can find. A drunken weekend in Vegas is exactly what he needs to help him forget his problems.

A recent break-up with her boyfriend of nearly a decade has left straight-laced Liz Rockwell disillusioned with love and in desperate need of a vacation. She gets more than she bargained for when one drunken night at a Vegas bar results in her being married to Anthony. Embarrassed by her lapse in judgment, Liz is ready to make this whole night just go away. A quickie divorce seems like the best solution to their problem, until Anthony realizes who Liz really is.

Known in the media as the Candy Heiress, billionaire Liz is the answer to Anthony’s prayers. All he has to do is convince her to write him a check. Unfortunately, Liz is not one to be easily intimidated or coerced. Discovering the Rockwell family secret may be Anthony’s only hope. But the more time he spends with the intelligent and tenacious Liz, the more he realizes their chapel wedding may not have been such a drunken mistake after all...

Anthony Carter and Lizzie Rockwell have made one of the biggest mistakes in their life -- Or was it a mistake at all? Two broken people have come together under the weirdest conditions but I really liked the idea behind How to Catch an Heiress. Definitely not my first choice in reading but it was a decent read when I need to take a break from reality. Plus, I was getting tired of the alpha billionaires -- It was a good change.

20 days to change her mind. Can he do it?
20 days to get him out. Can the Candy Heiress do it?

Two different mindsets and two different stories. As they entwine and lapse, you will enjoy the charismatic Anthony Carter and the tenacious Lizzie Rockwell.

3 out of 5 stars.

ARC: Justice For Boone - Susan Stoker (Badge of Honor: Texas Heroes #6)

Published Date: September 20, 2016
Genre: Romance
Synopsis: Sheriff s Deputy Hayden Yates has worked hard to gain the respect and admiration of her fellow law enforcement officers. She s succeeded so well, in fact, that she s become just one of the guys. As her friends slowly begin to meet their soul mates, Hayden longs to be seen as a desirable woman, and not the tomboy she s always been.
No slouch when it comes to attracting the opposite sex, cowboy Boone Hatcher might want to give it a rest for a while, especially after his last girlfriend accuses him of domestic abuse. Deputy Yates sees right through his ex s ruse and Boone sees right through Deputy Yates. Hayden might seem all business, but her need for justice comes from a heart that beats with pure passion.
A few dates turn into something more, and as the couple s relationship deepens, so do the threats from his ex. It s up to Hayden to convince Boone the danger is real before jealous antics escalate to deadly obsession.

Susan Stoker just doesn't disappoint her readers.

This has to be my all-time --- *awkward silence*

Well not my all time favorite series but she is definitely a favorite author. I definitely wish I could see her in person because she brings such beautiful guys into my life that I can totally drool on. SRSLY.

Like it is awful as too how bad my man crush was on Boone because he is absolutely delicious so I can see why his last girlfriend went crazy. Hayden Yates is my spirit animal. Trust me on this. She gets along better with guys than girls though craves for the attention of the man as a girl.

UGH.

I want to be Hayden Yates and I want Boone Hatcher to my boyfriend, husband, soulmate. MY FAVORITE BOOK FROM THE SERIES BY FAR.

Susan Stoker always creates the best of the best characters to be you in that moment.

4.8 out of 5 stars.

Zootopia (Movie Review)

Release Date: March 4, 2016
Genre: Mystery Cartoon
Synopsis: From the largest elephant to the smallest shrew, the city of Zootopia is a mammal metropolis where various animals live and thrive. When Judy Hopps (Ginnifer Goodwin) becomes the first rabbit to join the police force, she quickly learns how tough it is to enforce the law. Determined to prove herself, Judy jumps at the opportunity to solve a mysterious case. Unfortunately, that means working with Nick Wilde (Jason Bateman), a wily fox who makes her job even harder.

OH MY GOODNESS! This is such a darling movie -- I can't believe i refused to watch it in theaters because this movie made me giggle more than I could handle. LIKE SRSLY though. This movie is to die for because I mean, well, you know.

See?

Speechless.

I loved this movie because it was so kid friendly and so over exaggerated that I couldn't help it. Definitely a great movie to just cuddle down into after something scary which is exactly what I did.

Disney is somewhere in the high upper middle area of likeableness because of the fact that i am a 90s princess girl and well, let's be honest now, they had such a bad streak with movies and TV shows. But they are getting back up there.

4.7 out of 5 stars.
