Pieced Together - Kelly Moore (Broken Pieces #2)

Published Date: March 29, 2016
Genre: Erotica
Synopsis: Kyren couldn’t get over killing Brogan’s father, even though he did it to save her. The demons of his own past took control, and he left her when she needed him most. In the aftermath of their agonizing breakup, Kyren and Brogan sought healing on very different paths. She moved to a remote island in Maine and started a new life, while he isolated himself on his yacht, and almost drowned in booze and guilt. After three long years, they’re each in a good place. Neither can forget the intense, passionate love they shared, but they’re both sure it’s over for good. Too much time has passed. There’s too much old hurt.

Fate intervenes, however, and places Kyren on Brogan’s doorstep. For both of them, it’s like they were never apart. His body craves hers, and she immediately longs to submit to his magnetism. Brogan is terrified of giving in to their passion. Can he be the man she needs him to be? Will he break her heart again? She’s not the same person she was back then. She’s stronger, and she has a big secret. Has he learned from his own demons? And most importantly, when she comes clean, will he be able to handle the truth?

As so learned from the first book, Kelly Moore loves to switch up the POVs without any notice. Mainly this is in Kyren's voice and his demons lie along the lines of PTSD. One of the worst things something can happen. With Brogan's help, he was able to release some of it but from the first book, he left because he didn't think that he could ever protect her after the whole ordeal on learning and experiencing her story of her father's abuse.

Three years ago, they were broken. But together, they pieced each other back together again and created the best of the best of their character. Finding your way back home is truly a beautiful thing as Kyren romances Brogan yet again. But there is another character that he needs to win over -- Several new characters.

As Kyren likes to call it, fate has brought them back together but as fate will have it, it will most likely tear them apart.

With a 3.2 out of 5 stars, I will blog you later, awesome book nerds.

Broken Pieces - Kelly Moore (Broken Pieces #1)

Published Date: September 10, 2015
Genre: Erotica
Synopsis: His touch is scorching hot and rough, just how I like it. It's just sex. I don't believe in love, but he makes me feel things I have never felt. I want to try. I want to trust him with my secrets, but there is a good chance he will leave. He will see how broken I am. He is what I need to fix the broken pieces of my heart. At a very young age, violence and secrets forced Brogan to escape the only life she knew. Now a young woman with a good career, she hopes to finally forget her past. She is tormented by demons in her dreams, and it has threatened every sexual relationship she has ever had. Brogan meets Kyren Nolan, a sexy ex-military man. He is a yacht builder who has made his own wealth. He knows what he wants the minute he meets Brogan. He wants her, and his first meeting with her lands him on the ground. He doesn't take no for an answer. They start a passionate affair that turns into more. He teaches her that a gentle touch can create as much heat between them. They both struggle for control. But Kyren has his own scars and secrets. When their pasts collide, will they be able to overcome the broken pieces of both their lives together?

This was an interesting book to read from an erotic point of view because although there were certain points of that aforementioned genre, it didn't focus on that. I would rather call this a tragedy in the making.

Lies, secrets, and scars will be revealed and it will make your heart burn with animosity for the characters that did that to make the characters the way they are. Although it wouldn't have been a pretty decent book without this. Now working this book, you learn how broken people can truly be.

Breaking down walls and vanquishing the demons of the past: It will be a challenge for these characters as they give and take the strength that they need.

With the version that I received, there were safety precautions taken because the formatting really threw me off and so it took me a lot longer to read the book than it should have. I understand that they are precautions but there should be a level of trust between authors and certain bloggers.

Anyways, the POV changes a lot -- at least I think so -- between the two main characters.

Deep seated issues come out in this book and it truly is terrifying that this does happen to some families and we are truly unaware of these aforementioned issues. Kelly Moore does a pretty good job at creating this sub plot build up to the climax.

Though this didn't keep you on your toes as wanted, it still was a decent novel to read. So with a 3 out of 5 stars, I will blog you later, awesome book nerds.

ARC: The Forbidden Muse - Aubrey Parker (Inferno Fall #2)

ARC received from author in exchange for honest review
Published Date: November 10, 2015
Genre: Young Adult/Contemporary Romance
Synopsis: Gavin might just be the music that Abigail yearns for … if only his painful past will allow him to love again.

Just a few months after arriving at Inferno Falls, Abigail can’t see the light at the end of her tunnel. No one can complain about being overworked and broke when the rest of the country’s the same way, but that doesn’t make it any easier when Abigail has to live the story every day. It’s not the work or the meager lifestyle she minds. Abigail wants something more…something inspired…something raw.

Gavin is a grieving musician trying to re-find his inspiration. He’s mourning a crushing loss, and life has become too mundane, too typical, to give him the material for songs that used to come so easy. What could he expect to find in Inferno Falls that would truly stir his heart? After all, he’s been shattered by love too many times to find any comfort in a woman’s arms.

The song begins…

Strings play the moment they meet in Abigail’s section of the Nosh Pit, Inferno Falls’ latest and hippest restaurant, and their pulses thunder like a drumbeat from the moment their eyes touch. Abigail feels a stirring in her heart she never expected, while Gavin goes home to pour his inspiration into music.

But despite their obvious harmony, Gavin’s past won’t let anyone get too close. And after years of heartache, Abigail doesn’t have time for anyone who seems like they’re just playing around. Together they’ll have to learn to sing in chorus, or let the stage lights fade and bow out of each other’s lives for good.

Gavin and Abigail both have a chapter that they don't want to read from their lives. But let's be honest, everyone has a story that they don't want to read to anyone. They skirt around each other and never really met until Abby picks up another shift at her second job. There she meets the mysterious Gavin and they clique. I mean, everyone who has worked in a restaurant as a waitress/waiter have the most patience that I've seen.

Who here has suffered through someone saying 'Choose for me' or 'I don't want this, this, or this'. Like come on. Anyways, let's get down to the nitty gritty. Gavin lost two of the most important people in his life and he just doesn't want to open up anymore. Abigail has run away from home and well she's got some past where if anyone experiences it, they question everything and become anxious about the most simplest situations. She was cheated on and cut off from her parents. Working two jobs is no joke so I give Abby lots of props for doing so.

Okay, I had some really good quotes but of course, it got deleted. It made me want to cry. I wanted to cry in this book and that doesn't happen for me. When I read these books again, I will want to give you these quotes. But for now, let's just say that you will want to read this book.

I FOUND THEM!

"The first verse tells the story of a boy and a girl who fall in love. Who meet tragedy. And how much it hurts...The second verse tells how the boy's world ends along with the girl's. How he tries to face the world and can't. How it's all pointless. How every day is another floor on an endless downward spiral...The third verse is about a new girl. A new love. And about moving on, sweet on the tongue to soften the bitter."

After Brandon and Riley's story, I was kind of skeptical to say the least to continue the story but Aubrey Parker has so much potential and so when I read Gavin and Abigail's story, my heart just wrung out. It writhed. It hurts. Maybe because it hit so close to home.

This is the story of a girl. This is the story of a boy. This has tragedy. This has romance. It's new beginnings. It's old problems. But I loved it nonetheless.

I rate The Forbidden Muse a 4 out of 5 stars and hope to read The Second Chance, the third book in her series.

Blog you later, awesome book nerds. I will be back tomorrow with The Naughty King - Michelle A Valentine.

Update:

SPOILER ALERT!

I just finished the book and wow... That is all that I can say about it. This book definitely hit somewhere close to home for me personally because it dealt with depression and anxiety with a whole lot of drinking. Andrea and Tanner have an epic love story that is well developed throughout the book because every person has that one person in their life that they wish that they worked up the courage to talked to but never did... On top of that, there are plenty of people that battle depression, anxiety, and alcoholism, and sometimes we just don't even know it because as explained in the book, the happiest people are often the ones most struggling.

One of the strongest quotes through the book was, "Make yourself proud." Especially something that I can now tell myself when I am having a hard day or if I know someone else that is.

Something that I would also like to point out is that even the smallest and kindest gesture can make someone's day.

I rate this book a 5 out of 5 stars and highly recommend this to those that love New Adult and Young Adult books that deal with some of the worst tragedies that some people do actually face. I absolutely fell in love with this book because not only do the characters have a realistic romance blooming but it shows the readers how serious these problems can be.

Andrea and Tanner are one of my favorite couple, mainly because Andrea has some lady balls that I would like to grow as well while Tanner is just hot and funny so onto the book boyfriends list he goes.

Thanks for reading awesome book nerds.
