The Gift (Movie Review)

Release Date: August 7, 2015
Genre: Mystery/Thriller

Synopsis: When married couple Simon (Jason Bateman) and Robyn (Rebecca Hall) unexpectedly encounter Gordo (Joel Edgerton), an acquaintance from Simon's past, little do they know that their perfect lives will be thrown into a terrifying tailspin. At first, Simon doesn't recognize Gordo, but after a troubling series of uninvited encounters and mysterious gifts, a horrifying secret emerges. As Robyn learns what really happened between Simon and Gordo, she begins to question how well she knows her spouse.

Honestly, I am a little upset that I paid $10.00 to see this movie. With all of the hype that was coming into theaters for this movie, I was very excited to watch it. But, sadly, I was disappointed...

I was expecting a little more action, more suspense, more horror but I guess it was good in its own way. I am going to go ahead and rate this a solid 2 stars out of 5 just because the story was dragged on and I almost fell asleep in it several times. Don't get me wrong, it had one or two moments where I jumped out of my seat, seeing that I was sitting in the way front row so thank you for recliner chairs or else my neck would be completely stiff.

It was not the thriller that I was expecting and yet I was not completely disappointed but I am not happy about it either. There are no movies other than The Visit and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2 that I am excited to see because I mean The Visit actually looks terrifying while Jennifer Lawrence is my favorite actress by far.

Thanks for reading awesome nerds and I am signing off for today. Go ahead and watch out for my review on Rebels: City of Indra - Kendall/Kylie Jenner and Maya Sloan. I am not going to give any spoilers but let's just say that as of right now, I am not so impressed.

Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation (Movie Review)

Release Date: July 31, 2015
Genre: Thriller/Action
Synopsis:
With the IMF now disbanded and Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) out in the cold, a new threat -- called the Syndicate -- soon emerges. The Syndicate is a network of highly skilled operatives who are dedicated to establishing a new world order via an escalating series of terrorist attacks. Faced with what may be the most impossible mission yet, Ethan gathers his team and joins forces with Ilsa Faust (Rebecca Ferguson), a disavowed British agent who may or may not be a member of this deadly rogue nation.

I actually don't know how I feel about this movie. I mean, it had its cheesy moments but no romance, action-packed, and it made you laugh at almost everything that was technically "impossible". Which is why, I guess they called this movie Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation.

Who wouldn't fall for a rogue beauty that is strong, intelligent, and rebellious girl that could snap your neck at any moment? Obviously, even Ethan Hunt could not even resist her. But like I said, there was no romance. Maybe a little one-sided love.

This movie was kind of a going away thing for my friends and I because we are all going back to school and we will not be seeing each other until Halloween, which is kind of sad. But, absence makes the heart grow fonder.

Anyways, this movie should be rated a good 4 out of 5 stars. I don't know if it is a movie that I would watch multiple times but Tom Cruise is one hell of an actor. I still remember him from my younger years as well. Even Hawkeye (or at least the actor that plays him) is in the movie and he is still funny as hell even when he is not Hawkeye.

Stay chill, Cruise and keep making great movies.

Blog you later, awesome nerds and I shall be back with Rebels: City of Indra - Kendall/Kylie Jenner and Maya Sloan and The Gift (Movie).

Vacation (Movie Review)

Every single time that I went to the movies, I anticipated the commercial where Ed Helms and Christina Applegate are introducing or trying to get some fandom to the movie and they are trying to figure out what AMC stands for.

EH: American Movie Cat because there is one in every theatre...
CA: Wow... You just actually made me dumber... (Talks some more)
EH: (Covers his mouth not so subtly and meows) See there it was.

This movie was one of the most gross, ridiculous, and raunchy -- but I laughed the whole way through and sometimes gagged just because there were some gross parts.

Release Date: July 29, 2015
Genre: Comedy

Synopsis:
Remembering fond, childhood memories of his trip to Walley World, Rusty Griswold (Ed Helms) surprises his wife (Christina Applegate) and two sons with a cross-country excursion to America's favorite fun park. Following in his father's (Chevy Chase) footsteps, Rusty and the gang pack up the car and hit the road for some much-needed family bonding. Soon, the promise of fun turns into one misadventure after another for the next generation of Griswolds and anyone who encounters them.

Everyone needs to watch this movie with at least their best friend because no one understands the humor nowadays except the two of young the other people in the theatre.

One of the best things to do is just lounging around in a theatre with them because you do the stupidest stuff ever while watching other people do stupid stuff in the movie.

I would rate this movie a 3.2 stars out of 5 but I can't complain about money being wasted. It was definitely a fun movie just not my kind of fun.

Do watch it though and tell me your thoughts, movie buffs.

"We're the Griswolds... You piece of ass!"

Mister Monday - Gath Nix (The Keys to the Kingdom #1)

Published Date: March 1, 2005
Genre: Fantasy/Young Adult

Synopsis: Seven days. Seven keys. Seven virtues. Seven sins. One mysterious house is the doorway to a very mysterious world -- where one boy is about to venture and unlock a number of fantastical secrets.

Review from Barnes and Nobel (Matt Warner) : Fantasy master Garth Nix dreams up a world where time mixes with place -- and one boy must enter it to recover one of seven all-powerful keys -- in this first mind-bending installment of The Keys to the Kingdom.

Arthur Penhaligon's first days at his new school don't go too well, particularly when a fiendish Mister Monday appears, gives Arthur a magical clock hand, and then orders his gang of dog-faced goons to chase Arthur around and get it back. But when the confused and curious boy discovers that a mysterious virus is spreading through town, he decides to enter an otherworldly house to stop it. After meeting Suzy Blue and the first part of "the Will" (a frog-looking entity that knows everything about the House), Arthur learns that he's been selected as Rightful Heir to the House and must get the other part of the clock hand in order to defeat Monday. That means getting past Monday's henchmen and journeying to the Dayroom itself. Thankfully, Arthur is up to the challenge, but as he finds out, his fight seems to be only one-seventh over.

With a weapon-wielding hero and a villain who doesn't make Mondays any nicer, Nix's Keys to the Kingdom launch is imaginative and gripping. After an action-packed crescendo to the book's middle -- when Arthur finally learns his destiny -- Nix keeps the drama going and doesn't let it fall. By the end, you might be winded from all the fantastic explanation, but you'll definitely be salivating for what's to come.

I was very interested in this book when my friend showed me the series. While we were at work, we were talking about the kind of books that we were interested in and because Young Adult books came up as a similarity. Her favorite author/series was the The Keys to the Kingdom - Garth Nix and I exchanged that I was really interested in The Mortal Instruments - Cassandra Clare as of now.

If she didn't tell me what the book was about, I am sure that I would have been fairly confused. It turns out that Nix was trying to portray the seven deadly sins although, I did not feel that from Mister Monday. I was set on loving this book but the beginning was almost too boring.

But then I was thinking, what does everyone think when the dreadful Monday rolls around: Sleepiness, Angsty, Angry... I figured it went more with Sleepiness because Monday seemed to want to do nothing. So Sloth is the Sin that I paired with Mister Monday. Tell me what you guys think it could possibly be!

Whenever I am reading, I am usually on the train, heading to work and it was hard to get past the first two chapters. The third chapter is where things I to really interesting where we had some action going on or at least about to happen. I did however liked the ending. Something interesting. No romance. Funny characters.

I felt as if there was a lot of things going on, almost hard to keep up but if you like things happening all around you, strange words, and etc. This is the book for you.

I rate this book a solid 3 stars out of 5. I hope that Grim Tuesday is a bit better.

Blog you later, awesome book nerds! I will be back with Vacation (Movie), Rebels: City of Indra - Kendall/Kylie Jenner and Maya Sloan and Darkness Becomes Her - Kelly Keaton and some more to be read and watched!

Follow - J.A. Huss (Social Media #1)

Published Date: August 27, 2014
Genre: New Adult/Erotic Romance

Synopsis:#Women.

I fuck them. I use them. I pay them off. I find another. My demands are never denied. My contracts are always signed. They submit to me. Willingly. Completely. Temporarily. This is how it's always been.

Until I saw that filthy tweet.

@VaughnAsher My bare pussy. Your tongue. #ThingsIThinkAboutToGetOff

"FilthyBlueBird" thinks she can tease me with hashtags and then hide behind a Twitter handle? She thinks I wouldn't be more than happy to #RockHerFilthyWorld? She's wrong.

Her online fantasy is about to collide with her public reality, and it's about to happen... now.

I am not quite sure how I felt about this book. J.A. Huss is an interesting writer and I read this book way back June and I guess that I never wrote a review about it. My thoughts were drawn to Fifty Shades of Grey, because the main girl meets handsome, rich, famous guy, bondage, sex, and heartbreak is all involved.

Every single time I read a book like this, I am slightly intrigued. One of my favorite authors is E.L. James and I am waiting for Grey to get into my hands but this is a slightly more modernized book, Fifty Shades of Grey meets, excuse my language but fuckin' Twitter and Facebook and all of that nonsense.

Anyways, my rating on this a 3.8 stars out of 5. It will be up to whether to read it my awesome book nerds but if you are looking for a new genre to read, this is a read for you.

Blog you later with Vacation (Movie review) and Mister Monday - Garth Nix.

City of Glass - Cassandra Clare (The Mortal Instruments #3)

Published Date: March 24, 2009
Genre: Fantasy/Young Adult/Sci-Fi
Synopsis: To save her mother's life, Clary must travel to the City of Glass, the ancestral home of the Shadowhunters - never mind that entering the city without permission is against the Law, and breaking the Law could mean death. To make things worse, she learns that Jace does not want her there, and Simon has been thrown in prison by the Shadowhunters, who are deeply suspicious of a vampire who can withstand sunlight.

As Clary uncovers more about her family's past, she finds an ally in mysterious Shadowhunter Sebastian. With Valentine mustering the full force of his power to destroy all Shadowhunters forever, their only chance to defeat him is to fight alongside their eternal enemies. But can Downworlders and Shadowhunters put aside their hatred to work together? While Jace realizes exactly how much he's willing to risk for Clary, can she harness her newfound powers to help save the Glass City - whatever the cost?

Love is a mortal sin and the secrets of the past prove deadly as Clary and Jace face down Valentine in the third installment of the New York Timesbestselling series The Mortal Instruments.

The only thing racing through my mind is, 'What the hell is Clary doing?!'. She is one of the most stubborn people that I have ever read about. I do like her spunk however.

The mid-ending was the sweetest thing ever and considering that Simon and Clary are a no-more thing, I do want to cheer on either Maia and Simon or Simon and Isabelle.

Aline is just... ARGH. You know the feeling... Um... Sebastian is just something. He's definitely a character.

That plot twist at the end however, it had me by the neck.

I finished this book during my trip to go see Mt. Rushmore, which I hiked around so yay me, I am finally getting back into shape and it feels awesome. So when I finished this book, I was just thinking, 'Must review, must review, MUST REVIEW!'

Clare has done it again and it doesn't surprise me that I can finish her books in so little time. I cannot wait until I have City of Fallen Angels into my hands. Anyways... Read this book and I think that you will fall in love with the characters even more.

Thanks for reading awesome book nerds and I'll blog you later with Vacation (Movie) and Mister Monday - Garth Nix and of course, my attempt at Rebels: City of Indra - Kendall/Kylie Jenner and Maya Sloan.

Mafia Girl - Deborah Blumenthal

Published Date: March 1, 2014
Genre: Young Adult
Synopsis: What's in a name? Everything if you have my name." At her exclusive Manhattan high school, seventeen-year-old Gia is the most hated/loved girl in school. Why? Her father doesn't have a boss. He is the boss--the capo di tutti cappi, boss of all bosses. Not that Gia cares. But life gets complicated when she meets a cop she calls "Officer Hottie" and feels a suprising chemistry. Then Vogue magazine wants to feature Gia in a fashion spread about real-life bad girls. On top of this, she's running for class president. Can Gia step out from under her dad's shadow and show everyone there's more to her than "Mafia Girl?

So I am reading, well read this book with a friend of mine as we were giggling in the library.

My thoughts are is that although, this book has its funny moments but I don't know if I liked it or disliked it so we will go with indifferent.
Gia has a funny life. Everyone is either swooning after her or turning their backs of fear.
Michael, Officer Mchottie is a correct term for whom I am picturing.
Don daughter meets hot cop = Disastrous Love

This book was another version of Mean Girls. Nobody wants to be friends with a girl that can snap her fingers and have her daddy's men come after them within a quick second. Although she acts like she is a tough girl, there is a side to her that is completely innocent.

Funny thing is, when I imagined her, I immediately thought of a girl in tight clothing and oozing sex appeal but when she meets Officer McHottie, her knees buckles and she is wrapped around his fingers.

I am going to rate this book a solid 3 out of 5. Funny and interesting book to read to get insight into a Don's daughter's life with her family but it is not a book that I would read again.

Read this book and let me know how you feel about it! Soon to come is City of Glass - Cassandra Clare, Vacation (Movie), and Mister Monday - Garth Nix.

Cover Reveal - Announced Published Date - Queen (The Blackcoat Rebellion #3) - Aimee Carter

Publishing Date: November 24, 2015
Genre: Action/Fantasy/Young Adult

Synopsis: PAWN...CAPTIVE...QUEEN?

Kitty Doe is a Blackcoat rebel and a former captive with a deadly connection to the most powerful and dangerous man in the country, Prime Minister Daxton Hart. Forced to masquerade as Daxton's niece, Lila Hart, Kitty has helped the Blackcoats take back the prison known as Elsewhere. But Daxton has no intention of ceding his position of privilege—or letting Kitty expose his own masquerade. Not in these United States, where each person's rank means the difference between luxury and poverty, freedom and fear...and ultimately, between life and death.

To defeat the corrupt government, Kitty must expose Daxton's secret. Securing evidence will put others in jeopardy, including the boy she's loved forever and an ally she barely trusts. For months, Kitty's survival has hinged on playing a part. Now she must discover who she truly wants to be, and whether the new world she and the rebels are striving to create has a place in it for her after all.

After falling in love with Aimee Carter as an author from The Goddess Test Series, I absolutely needed to read the next series that was being promoted so highly. The Blackcoat Rebellion series has a great plot: The Hunger Games mixed with Teen Dystopian.

It is sad to say that this marks the end of the series but I am sure that I will not be disappointed considering I have been following the series so closely, though, apparently, not closely enough because the cover reveal was yesterday.

I cannot wait to get this book into my greedy little hands or into my Kindle and soak up the finale of a great series.

Time to say goodbye and while I am away on a road trip, I should be back with several more books or at least one, mainly Mister Monday - Garth Nix to review on. Wait till the week of November 24th for my review on Queen - Aimee Carter.

Every Last Breath - Jennifer L. Armentrout (The Dark Elements #3)

Published Date: July 28, 2015
Genre: Sci-Fi/Fantasy
Synopsis: Some loves will last ’til your dying breath

Every choice has consequences—but seventeen-year-old Layla faces tougher choices than most. Light or darkness. Wickedly sexy demon prince Roth, or Zayne, the gorgeous, protective Warden she never thought could be hers. Hardest of all, Layla has to decide which side of herself to trust.

Layla has a new problem, too. A Lilin—the deadliest of demons—has been unleashed, wreaking havoc on those around her…including her best friend. To keep Sam from a fate much, much worse than death, Layla must strike a deal with the enemy while saving her city—and her race—from destruction.

Torn between two worlds and two different boys, Layla has no certainties, least of all survival, especially when an old bargain comes back to haunt them all. But sometimes, when secrets are everywhere and the truth seems unknowable, you have to listen to your heart, pick a side—and then fight like hell…

Happy BELATED Book Birthday to
Every Last Breath - Jennifer L. Armentrout

My books that have been signed by Jennifer L. Armentrout are increasing and I cannot be any happier. I got the entire book series from one of her giveaways with Damaris.

I rate this book a solid 5 out of 5 stars and I wish there was a way that I could rate this even higher. I loved the fact that Jennifer L. Armentrout did not wait until the end to show us who Layla chose and I loved their plot line together. They engaged in many of the activities that both made them feel alive. Already, both of the guys, Roth and Zayne were part of my book boyfriends list.

Do read this book and I will be back with another review of Rebels: City of Indra - Kendall & Kylie Jenner and Maya Sloan and Mister Monday - Garth Nix.

City of Ashes - Cassandra Clare (The Mortal Instruments #2)

Published Date: March 25, 2008
Genre: Sci-Fi/Fantasy
Synopsis: Clary Fray just wishes that her life would go back to normal. But what's normal when you're a demon-slaying Shadowhunter, your mother is in a magically induced coma, and you can suddenly see Downworlders like werewolves, vampires, and faeries? If Clary left the world of the Shadowhunters behind, it would mean more time with her best friend, Simon, who's becoming more than a friend. But the Shadowhunting world isn't ready to let her go — especially her handsome, infuriating, newfound brother, Jace. And Clary's only chance to help her mother is to track down rogue Shadowhunter Valentine, who is probably insane, certainly evil — and also her father.

To complicate matters, someone in New York City is murdering Downworlder children. Is Valentine behind the killings — and if he is, what is he trying to do? When the second of the Mortal Instruments, the Soul-Sword, is stolen, the terrifying Inquisitor arrives to investigate and zooms right in on Jace. How can Clary stop Valentine if Jace is willing to betray everything he believes in to help their father?

In this breathtaking sequel to City of Bones, Cassandra Clare lures her readers back into the dark grip of New York City's Downworld, where love is never safe and power becomes the deadliest temptation.

Oh Clary, Clary, Clary... I am disappointed in such a character because if she can't have one thing, she moves onto the next best thing. This story broke my heart into a million pieces with all of the sadness that came along with it. Although there were parts where I did laugh, I almost wanted to strangle these characters to get their heads screwed on straight.

That plot twist with Simon and Jace, just about killed me. Although Clary's was shocking as well. By the end of the first book, you kind of already knew who Alec gave his heart too. Magnus, although he acts all tough, high and almighty, he does have a certain soft spot for a person.

I would rate this more stars if I could because it gave me the thrill I craved. The Mortal Instruments is something that I needed in a long time. I rate this book a solid 5 out of 5 stars but I did hesitate when I read the last chapter to the story. Why couldn't Clary break the friend zone?

________________________________________________________________________________

I will be reviewing Every Last Breath - Jennifer L. Armentrout because I received the whole Dark Elements series in the mail today all signed by her. Also, I got a bookmark and pin from her, also signed. I am kind of freaking the hell out because she has been one of my favorite authors for a while and she does so many giveaways.

Also, my next book to read and review is Rebels: City of Indra - Kendall & Kylie Jenner and Maya Sloan and Mister Monday - Garth Nix.

Alright, goodnight my awesome book nerds and I will blog you soon, possibly tomorrow.
