Shadowhunters: "Moo Shu To Go" (Ep. 5)

Release Date: February 9, 2016
Genre: Young Adult
Well, I am right there with Alec about having to give up your most precious memory. When I read the books, I was definitely speechless when this whole part happened but I was also not surprised that when they linked it with the show, why was it automatically assumed that he was in love with Jace?

Could it not have been the parabatai bond between Jace and Alec? Nope. Of course not. Sorry. Criticism level trying to lower... And lower... And failed. So again, why? Why does it have to automatically be love? I absolutely adore Alec to death but I laugh every single time he is very "salty" with Clary over the fact that all attention is on her from Jace and not him... Awww. Sympathy vote won.

The way the last episode ended had be throw my hands up in the air and say yeahhhhh. *Tries to remember Chris Brown's song, Yeah* That's not going to happen. But let's say that I was very annoyed and creeped out by Valentine. So if that was their endgame, they succeeded.

Oh my gosh! Magnus and Alec are the freaking cutest things in the world! With Valentine's Day, no... NOT THAT CREEPY OLD FREAK, coming up, love is in the air which is exactly what is the opposite of Creepy Valentine.

Rate 3.8 out of 5 stars.

But, this episode wasn't shabby... I liked it and again, I'm watching this as I am dozing off so perhaps I will update it soon but I also want to mark the fact of the case against Clare and Kenyon... What do you all think is going to happen? Will it progress? Drop? Tell me your thoughts on it in the comments.

Don't know what I am talking about? Click here.

Recap: Alec finds himself torn between duty and loyalty to Jace.
Tensions escalate between Alec and Clary as they don't see eye to eye on the best way to hunt down Valentine. But when Jace and Isabelle are sent on an intel mission to the Seelies by Maryse Lightwood, Alec is put in charge of keeping Clary safe, much to both of their chagrin. With his hard-as-nails mother back in town and Clary's rule-breaking tendencies, Alec finds himself struggling to stick to the Clave's rules while keeping his promise to Jace.
Meanwhile, the New York City werewolf pack begins their hunt for Clary and The Mortal Cup.

My Love Forever - Helen Bright (Night Movers Vampires #1)

Published Date: May 6, 2015
Genre: Romance
Synopsis: Alex knew Julia was meant to be his when he saw her as an eighteen year old off to university, but he decided to let her live a little before he made his claim. After all he was a nine hundred and fifty year old vampire and he had waited this long to find love so he could wait a little longer.
A year on and Julia is engaged, then married to someone else.
Alex thought his chance at love with Julia was gone.

Years later a terrible accident leaves Julia with a devastating tragedy that no parent should have to go through, and her marriage breaks down.
Julia then finds herself back home in Yorkshire and applying for a Job with Alex’s company Night Movers.
Will Alex convince Julia to be his after all she has been through? And can she accept the fact that he is a born immortal vampire?

Gina has sacrificed her happiness to stay in her marriage for the sake of her family for many years. Nik, a vampire and co-owner of Night Movers is in love with Gina, but she lacks confidence in herself and can never accept that someone like Nik could love her. Will Nik convince her that she’s all he needs?

When I first picked up this book, I didn't exactly know what I was getting myself into. I merely wanted a new book to read and a new book I got. Helen Bright is a beautiful writer and the way that she brought the vampire romance to life, made me start to love supernatural creatures again.

There are two different kinds of vampires. The made and the born. Almost a hierarchal placed system, the born withhold the powers that are quite unimaginable. They are able to walk in the sun and have incredible strength as well as bond with females of the living. The made are unfortunate and cannot walk in the sun without buying from their souls out.

Julia had a heartbreaking story. (Sorry, you'll have to 1-click the crap out of this book to know what happened) and only Alex is able to mend her heart to what it was.

This book switches perspectives and you often have to re-read the first part of the chapter to know whose perspective it was. I truly thought this book was beautiful. I was not disappointed with Helen Bright. However, I saw more of a Vampire Diaries/Twilight mix but it wasn't completely awful.

Once you pick up the book, you won't want to put it down and if you do, you'll itch until you can open the book again. Helen Bright can keep you on your toes. I believe that the first book is full of the history of the characters but it would have been better if it was an isolated account. Not back and forth between five or six characters because it made your head swim with all of the details.

I can safely rate this book a 4 out of 5 stars and there is currently a giveaway happening on my Facebook blog page at http://www.facebook.com/amysreviewobsession where you can win books 1 and 2. The giveaway is happening until February 13th,  2016 at 12:00am MST.

ARC: The Master - Tara Sue Me (The Submissive #7)

Published Date: February 2, 2016
Genre: Erotica

Synopsis: She's ready to try again... Sasha Blake is scarred from a BDSM session gone wrong, but she can't deny how drawn she is to a strong Master. Determined to rejoin the Partners in Play community, she asks Abby and Nathaniel West to set her up with a Dom who will make her feel safe again as a sub.
Cole Johnson knows how to push all of Sasha's buttons, but he's convinced she's not the submissive he needs. Still, the further they go into their play, the more Cole begins to wish he could make Sasha his all the time...
When forbidden desires turn into scorching action, Sasha and Cole come face-to-face with their demons - and realize their deepening relationship might be too dangerous to last...
Before there was the fan fiction that became Fifty Shades of Grey, there was The Submissive...Indulge in the series that started it all: The Submissive, The Dominant, The Training, The Chalet, The Enticement, The Collar, The Exhibitionist and The Master.

I wasn't really sure what I was getting myself into when I started this book. I started realizing that I really liked the ideas of a Dom/Sub relationship but my world was opened up to even more of it and it really scared me.

This book, from what I understand, is there are times that things get out of hand. In fact, I haven't even read the previous seven books and of course, this book can easily be a stand-alone. You find everything out and it just hits you in the face. Like damn. My face hurts from this.

It's all about new beginnings and second chances. Those are the romance books that I love the most.

Because this copy was like a review copy, the formatting drove me insane because it was just all over the page sometimes hard to follow.

But in reality, this book was a beautiful love and rather funny story. How I fell in love with it and the dominant/submissive relationship was a beautiful one in this book. I didn't know what I was getting into with Tara Sue Me but she didn't really fail my expectations.

Cole will do anything to push Sasha's buttons but she does it to him as well and it's rather hilarious seeing them go back and forth at each other like they are very close. It's the trust between their relationship.

I can safely rate this book a 3.5 out of 5 stars. I don't believe that anyone will really amount to Fifty Shades of Grey but this book wasn't completely awful.

During a lull in the conversation, he leaned forward and lowered his voice. "There's a play party next weekend."
She froze and he could see her process his words and their meaning before she relaxed. "Yes."
"Good job, Sasha. You did what I told you to do earlier, didn't you?" She'd remembered he wouldn't touch her without telling her where and how.
"Yes, Sir."
He nodded. "A fast learner. I like that. I would like for you to attend the party with me."
He paused, gauging her reaction. Her cheeks were flushed with excitement. "I would like that," she said.
"Since the party will be held at Master Greene's house and I don't know if he has granite countertops, I won't have you wear the black lingerie."
Her voice was calm when she asked, "What will you have me wear, Sir?"
"I'll have it sent to you this week." Let her think about it for a while.
"I look forward to it."
"We won't formally participate in any scenes, but you will serve as my submissive."
Her lips parted and she nodded. "Yes, Sir."
"Master Greene has asked me if he can apologize for Peter's actions." He watched her carefully, looking for any hint of panic.
"Will Peter be there?" she asked quietly.
"No, in fact I understand that as a result of the phone call, there's to be a meeting to determine if he should be allowed to remain in the group."
Her eyes widened in shock. She hadn't heard that. He was surprised Julie hadn't told her, but then again, Daniel might not have told Julie.
She straightened her shoulders. "In that case, I'm good with Master Greene apologizing."
"That's what I told him, but I also said I wanted to check with you
She nodded, but then her gaze grew distant and she looked over his shoulder.
"Everything okay?" he asked. "Are you having second thoughts?"
She slowly returned her focus to him. "No, I'm just thinking about Peter. Now that I can think about him and not risk an episode, I often find myself wondering if I missed something, some sign."
"I understand why you'd do that, but your time would be better spent asking yourself what qualities you're looking for in a Dom." He reached into his pocket and took a twenty dollar bill out. "Do you know how they train people to recognize counterfeit money?"
Her forehead wrinkled and she frowned in puzzlement. "Sir?"
He passed her the twenty. "They don't give them the counterfeit bills to study. They only touch and hold the real thing. They become so accustomed to the real money that they immediately recognize the fraud."
"I'm not sure I understand what you're trying to say, Sir."
"Focus on what you want from a Dom, how you want him to treat you. Think through the characteristics of a Dom you'd like to play with. That way when you meet someone and you get to know him, you'll recognize if he's a fraud or not."
She nodded.
"To make sure you understand, I want you to make a list of your top ten requirements from a Dom. We'll go over it next time we meet."
Her gaze grew wistful again, but she smiled and replied with a soft, "Yes, Sir."

Just as Corrie reached for the doorknob to see if she could find Shaun—he usually hung out in the makeshift break room toward the back of the clinic—she heard angry voices in the reception area, followed by a weird popping noise. She froze in her tracks and tilted her head to the side, trying to figure out what was going on.
It wasn't until she heard Cayley's scream cut short that Corrie figured out something horrible was happening.
Knowing better than to open her door and try to stop whatever was going on, Corrie stepped quickly away from the door and imagined her office layout in her head. As the popping noises and the screams continued—and got closer to her office—she frantically thought about where she could hide.
Her desk was large, and sat perpendicular to the doorway. She could walk from the door straight to the chair at her desk without having to swerve around any furniture. She kept her office purposely free of extraneous chairs and tables so she didn't have to worry about tripping over them. She could hide under the desk, but wasn't that where everyone always hid—and died doing it? If she was a crazy person hell-bent on killing everyone around her, that's the first place she'd look for stragglers who might be hiding.
The exam door down the hall was opened and Corrie heard Mr. Treadaway ask, "Who are you?" before the awful popping sound came again.
Knowing time was running out, the gunman would be at her office within moments, Corrie made the split-second decision to see if she could fit in the small area under the sink. There was no other place she could hide.
When she'd been hired, there hadn't been any extra space for her to have an office in the small clinic. A small break room had been converted for her, and the sink and cabinets still lined one wall. It would be a tight fit, an extremely tight fit, but Corrie didn't hesitate.
Hearing the unsteady gait of someone walking down the hall, Corrie raced over to the sink and opened the cabinet underneath. She shoved her butt in first and wiggled it around, knocking over a few odds and ends that were stored under there in the process. She drew her knees up as close to her chest as she could get them and sighed in relief as she realized she fit, barely. Her neck was bent down at an awkward angle and she couldn't breathe very well, but Corrie quickly, and quietly, closed one door, then the other, praying whoever was shooting wouldn't think to look under the sink for anyone.
At the same moment Corrie heard the soft click of the cabinet door to her hiding place engage with the small magnet that kept it shut, she heard her office door burst open.
Because Corrie was blind, her other senses had always been more acute than a sighted person's. She seemed to hear, smell, and taste what people with no disabilities couldn't. The man who'd entered her office walked straight to her desk. Corrie heard her desk chair being pulled away. Yup, he'd immediately checked under there to see if someone was hiding from him. She heard him walk to the small window and held her breath.

Review: I absolutely loved this book right from the beginning. I first met Carly Phillips through her Dirty Sexy series and I was loving every single moment as the passion and love developed.

Now I meet the Dare siblings and they just make your heart pound. Not just out of affection but from the affliction between the family. Romance will eventually tear my heart to shreds but I don't mind it because I dared to get to know the siblings.

Isabelle and Gabriel's romance, there are no words. Just call it epic. With a rating of 3.8 out of 5 stars.

ARC: Taking the Lead - Cecilia Tan (Secrets of a Rock Star #1)

Taking The Lead by Cecilia Tan

Publication Date: January 26, 2016
Genre: Erotic Romance

Blurb

From the moment he meets Ricki, he knows there is no other woman who will satisfy him. He can feel the heat hiding beneath her cool demeanor and he's determined to stoke her flame.

Together Ricki and Axel indulge their every desire. The deeper they go, the more she craves. Submitting to Axel opens her eyes, and for the first time Ricki knows exactly what she wants. All she has to do is take it . . .

Review: This book really has me feeling the feels. I didn't know how I felt about the whole situation of how they met but their romance truly got to me. They fight for what they want even if it is in a somewhat aggressive manner and yet, it was a beautifully put story.

When I first read Cecilia Tan, I read book 8 of the Daron Guitar Chronicles. I'll admit, I wasn't the biggest fan but I was still a fan. When it came to reading Taking the Lead, I knew that I absolutely had to put this series by her on my TBR list. Especially with the teaser at the end. You feel me?

So maybe I cried every now and then because Cecilia knows how to wrench your heart out and squeeze the blood out so you don't know how to breathe anymore. Then she puts it back into your chest and tries to mend it again. Damn it. I've caught feelings. >.< What do I do? Help me get rid of them.

I truly loved this book. It has sexiness, it has love, and it has the feels. It is really all you can ask for within a book and Cecilia Tan delivered it to us. I rate this book a 4 out of 5 stars. Don't mess with my rating because it truly was a beautiful story. It almost possessed me. ;)

"'Possessed.'

'I mean, by you. I feel very much yours, Axel.'"

Shadowhunters: "Raising Hell" (Ep. 4)

Released Date: February 2, 2016
Genre: Young Adult
The show is slowly and I mean slowly getting better and better. However, I truly think that if they made it along the lines of the book, it would be a lot better but I am starting to become fond of the show.

As the show progresses, I am not sure how I feel about the characters because they just don't seem to fit the needs of the characters other than the Lightwood twins and of course Magnus. Out of all of the characters, I really like Simon, Magnus, and Alec because they play their part correctly other than the fact of Simon being a hot nerd.

Not what I expected nor to be hit with. He's not supposed to be hot and I expressed my anger thoroughly with my family members who all just laughed at me. However, even his band seems to be missing everyone. I don't even remember maureen being in the book nor of the fact that she was wanting date Simon. Am I missing something here?

Anyways, this particular episode is a good 4.1 out of 5 stars but we will have to see where they continue with the story because I cannot wait for more Simon, Magnus, and Alec. I want to see where their story develops.

I don't think that I am liking this whole parabatai idea being introduced so early in the story or how they describe it... I'm just not feeling how they are describing these moments between Alec and Jace. I think that the only encounter I liked was Alec and Magnus. It was probably the cutest encounter ever.

Recap: After getting a clue about who may have wiped Clary’s memories, the crew hunts down the High Warlock of Brooklyn, Magnus Bane. With all of the warlocks in hiding from Valentine, the team must lure Magnus out with something he can’t refuse – a killer party and something very valuable. But with emotions running high, more may come out of their meeting with Magnus than just the retrieval of Clary’s memories.
Meanwhile, Simon doesn’t seem to be himself after his recent Downworlder encounter.

What the hell do you–" He stopped mid-rant as his eyes fell on who was standing on his doorstep.
Laney looked mad as hell … and never more beautiful. With anger flashing in her hazel eyes and lips pressed thin, red and kissable. And that dress she wore? Oh, hell. It had taunted him the entire time they had been at The Turtle. Just for the simple fact that it accentuated the curves on the body he'd had his hands on, mouth on, lips on just a few days prior.
"What the hell do I want, you ask?" she snarled at him as she shoved past him to enter the house, pushing the door shut behind her with a loud thunk. "Oh, I'm so glad you asked. I want to know what the hell was with that gift. The one you shoved at me." Her volume increased, her words forceful, demanding. "Why did you give me that gift?"
She was upset because he gave her a nice gift? Fuck that.
"Because it made me think of you!" he practically screamed. He watched Laney's eyes go wide, lips parting in shock or disbelief, he wasn't sure which. They stood there, staring at each other, fiery gazes clashing.
He wasn't sure who moved first, but one minute they were having their angry standoff and the next, their bodies collided, lips meeting in a kiss filled with a fierceness, tongues warring. Knocking into the wall before he righted them as they pulled off articles of clothing, they made their way down the hallway to his room. Leaving a trail of her flip flops, sweater, dress, panties, bra, and his pants in their wake, they made it to his bedroom.
Zach pulled his lips from hers. "Just one night, again, Kavanaugh?" He heard the slight bite in his tone.
Her eyes searching his, she quietly answered, "Just one night. Again."
Hearing her repeat the words, he felt like there was a massive weight on his chest, making it difficult to breath.
Oh, he would give her one night, all right.
His mouth slammed down on hers, devouring her, tasting her deeply. Having her curves pressed against him made him nearly weak in the knees at how right it felt to have her in his arms.
It's only for one more night.
Those words haunted him and he slid his fingers into her hair, tugging her head back to tilt it, moving his lips to her throat.

The Gatekeeper's Sons - Eva Pohler (Gatekeeper's Saga #1)

Published Date: August 13, 2012
Genre: Young Adult
Synopsis: Fifteen-year-old Therese watches her parents die. While in a coma, she meets the twin sons of Hades—Hypnos, the god of sleep, and Thanatos, the god of death. She thinks she's manipulating a dream, not kissing the god of death and totally rocking his world.

Than makes a deal with Hades and goes as a mortal to the Upperworld to try and win Therese's heart, but not all the gods are happy. Some give her gifts. Others try to kill her.

The deal requires Therese to avenge the death of her parents. With the help of Than’s fierce and exotic sisters, the Furies, she finds herself in an arena face to face with the murderer, and only one will survive.

Dear Lordy. Help me review this book and be as nice as possible when it comes to this.

When I read Vampire Addiction from her, I definitely didn't love her at first sight. When I read this book, it started off at a good pace... Then, enter the Gatekeeper's sons. Okay, sure. They are about 18 years old. Twins. Hot or supposedly.

Therese Mills is a fifteen year old CHILD that watches her parents die in front of her. She then realizes that someone is trying to kill her. GASP. Dear God. I needed to close this book several times to keep going. That's a bad sign for me because I usually enjoy young adult novels.

She's a special little... Thing. I guess is the best way to explain her. She is a lucid dreamer. She's compassionate towards all living things. Even towards the brothers. They are both immensely attracted to her.

Than reached across the bed and wiped the tears from her face and then lay back on his side. "My brother told me I should come to Earth and have my way with as many girls as I wanted, to sow my wild oats, he said; but that's not my style. There's only one girl I'm interested in."

Therese's heart sped up. "You can't really mean me?"

Truly, this is every 15 year olds dream. Strong and handsome men loving her. What the deuce.

PREDATOR ALERT. He wants to sow his 'wild oats' in the women that he was interested in... Sex craved predator towards an underage girl. What the actual heck? Are you kidding me?

No sex at all. I mean, this is strictly young adult but the hints are there. Fantasies that run through every young adult's head. Alrighty then. The rating for this is a 1 out of 5 stars. I'm sorry, Eva Pohler. I truly do wish that I fell in love with you.
