Synopsis: Ava Malone knows all about being broken-hearted.
Born with a severe heart defect, she’s spent her whole life in and out of hospital desperately needing a transplant.
Just days from death, her weak prayers are finally answered, and she receives a new heart; one that not only saves her life, but changes it forever.
Now fit and healthy, Ava is able to do things she only dreamed of, like get a job and some independence, fall in love, and finally live life to the fullest.
But her journey of self-discovery takes her to places she never expected. Along the way, Ava doesn’t just find the woman she was always meant to be, but she also finds out more about the woman who no longer is. The one who gave her this new life because she lost hers.
Faced with a devastating dilemma, Ava must decide whether the heart that’s pumping inside her body now belongs to her, or is still beating for someone else.
This whole book was very healing to read. I got my dose of romance, heartbreak, and funny. From what I read from this book, I learned that I can cry from a few words exchanged regardless of how little I knew the characters. Ava Malone will make you fall in love with her because this book, especially near the end, shows that you do not need a man to be happy. You have to self-love before loving another.
Ava battles herself as she tries to live her second life. Use her second chance. Become one with her heart. But when she learns more than she bargained for, she is in a dilemma. Unable to find herself, she looks to find herself once again.
I absolutely loved this book because This Old Heart of Mine reminded me of Sharon M. Johnston's, Divided but it was without the science fiction of it all. Get ready to learn to love yourself and fall in love with the characters, plot, and story. 3.8 out of 5 stars for this book.
Blog you later, awesome book nerds.
